Random Object Photographs

I spent nearly 55 years as a commercial photographer but since receiving my first camera in 1955 My passion has been photographing the people and places around where I live in Appalachia. Over the decades I’ve made over 100,000 photographs of the people and places.

Left to right, the first is a country store near my home made in the mid 70’s, now closed. The second is at a serpent handling church service around 09. Number 3 is the late moonshiner Popcorn Sutton who was a good friend of mine. And last is a fellow I knew that was a mule skinner and worked his farm with mules. The photo was made around 2010.

A few more images from East Tn. Beautiful place to live with wonderful people.

All of these were from the early to mid 70’s.

Went out a few minutes ago to take the garbage can to the street. Moon looked cool enough to get a picture of.

And I bet you didn't rush back into the house to get your $5,000 Nikon or Canon photo rig, but used your phone? Not that many years ago, this would have been thought impossible without some pretty serious technology :)

I don't think any cell phone or point and shoot camera is capable of shooting at 600mm. Yep I went in the house to get my tripod and Nikon "photo rig."

Southern Living magazine named our neighbor, Furman University, as having one of the most beautiful campuses in the south.
A stroll around their lake is one of my favorite exercises, as well as a round of golf on their beautiful golf course.

In China for symbolic protection they have foo dogs, in Japan, komainu. My gf in Bellingham has 20-lb. "Charlie of Epic Whiskers", who also has a mighty impressive set of canine teeth :D (In truth though he's a wuss. When stuff happens, she calls him "I'm outta here Charlie")

Nice cat, is that a Maine Coon?

My daughter's Tuxedo has that mouth, too:

From a waterfront evening walk a few days ago:

The local fisherman have some sort of dispensation to maintain small hooches/shelters on the beach. (I suspect the dispensation is hereditary.) This particular one has these whimsical ornaments set up next to. A fisherman's wife keeping herself (and us) entertained, I suspect.

Check out the bamboo stick figure with ball cap and sunglasses in the foreground:

Further to this pic (post #5181):

I snapped a screen shot from my Skype chat with my gf last night, holding Charlie's brother, Izzie, which gives some perspective on their size:

On their first visit to the vet when they were kittens, he remarked, "There's a lot of cat in those kittens."
