I pulled out my 1977 Star Wars soundtrack album to take a pic of the poster that came with it and was reminded how good the artwork on the back cover was.

I had recorded a friends Star Wars soundtrack album onto cassette and played it a lot in the underdash auto-reverse cassette deck in my 1967 Olds Toronado. My Toronado was the music car at keg parties. I had it rigged up so I could move a couple of jumper wires to bypass the interior speakers and power up a couple Craig amps to power a pair of 6x9 speakers in homemade wood boxes. Of course, I would usually require a jump start at the end of the night or next morning. Ah, the memories...........

My first car was Grandad's '65 Plymouth Fury III 318ci. Looked just like this one, same colors inside and out.

I installed a nice stereo with a Kraco 40watt booster and a 8-track player. My friends and I would go to see midnight movies at the Southway 6 Theater in SW Houston. Pop the trunk and turn up the music. Had a 64qt cooler in the trunk with Beer, Jim Beam and mixers. Start about 10pm and be feeling pretty good by midnight when the movie started. Sober enough by the end of the show to drive home. As long as we were civilized and did not cause trouble the management left us alone.

And pilot killers. That's what my boy the helo pilot (honors grad engineering, pilot & instructor pilot MH-53E, catapult officer, squadron engineering officer, safety officer, maintenance officer)
called them, and told me if he were transferred to Ospreys, he'd resign his Navy commission. No ejection seat like fixed wing, no autorotate if in transition or hover mode like helos, too many deadly corners of the flight envelope, too complex.

I stayed up way past my bedtime a few nights the last couple weeks trying out my new to me telescope and astro camera.

I was pretty excited when I saw how much gas and dust was captured in 47 3-minute exposures of NGC 2264 (The Cone Nebula and Christmas Tree Star Cluster).

IC 443 Jellyfish Nebula, a super nova remanent in the constellation Gemini. I was able to get 57 3-minute exposures before trees got in the way.

Saw a hawk, either Cooper's or Sharp Shinned, flying into a oak at the park with a branch in its beak. Looks like a good sized nest being made. Should be interesting because about 30 feet away in another oak is a Yellow Crowned night Heron making a nest and putting on a show for the ladies. You can see the distinctive yellow 'crown' on his forehead in pic 1. Pic 2 is a mating display with the feathers that grow out during mating season. First time I have gotten a pic of that. Pic 3 is the female he was posturing towards.

Bluejay was taking a bath this afternoon. Not long after, Scruffy was up there drinking, even though she has a water bowl with fresh in it. Maybe it tasted like bird soup. Then she was lounging in the yard behind the barn.

The Scruffy on the bird bath pic was taken through a dirty double pane window. You can certainly tell the difference by the background. It still amazes me how good a pic I can get through those patio windows.

My cat ignores the nice clean water bowl next to his food bowl, but can't wait to go outside and drink scummy water from the bird bath. I wonder if that's some kind of primeval thing connecting domestic cats to the wild?
