Enjoyable range day with snub nose 36, 686 and 442. They say if you carry one you should practice with it and I do. I use 158 or 130 gr FMJ factory at the range and carry Hornady critical defense non plus P. Shot full 50 round qualification course with each. With this warm weather I have been OWB carrying the 442 but I can still conceal the 686 under a tshirt. The right holster and belt is the trick. Read some good things about Azula holsters here and awaiting one for the 686. I'll post a review when I get it.

I love snub nose revolvers too and shoot mine often. I purchased an Azula pancake for my 3" 1911 several years ago. It's nicely made but the leather is a little thin for my taste. When I draw my weapon it tends to collapse and I have to open it back up to reholster it. I recently purchased a 1791 holster for my J frame snubbies and like it much better. Midway had them on sale for $38 a few months ago. I also bought one of their belts a few months ago and feel their products are very high quality and reasonably priced.

I have an Azula pocket holster for the J frame that is one of my favorites.

Nice looking snubs!

I bought a 442 for my daughter because she works downtown then has to walk to the bus stop. We still haven't had a chance for her to shoot it, and she still needs to get her CC permit. I like the little thing & may get one for me. I like the DAO trigger; no hammer to get in the way for purse carry; as long as she keeps her purse close & personal. Or her jacket pocket when it gets cooler. We'll figure out a safer carry option once she gets it.

Snubs are fun. I have a new 686+ snub that I can't wait to shoot. If I can ever get to the range.

Love shooting my 642 PC and 637 PC. Practice, practice and practice. Once you learn the grip and trigger they are very accurate little beasts and easy to conceal and shoot.

I had a very early 642 (non plus P rated) that I had stupidly sold a 640 to get. I had sold my model 60 (first off duty gun) to get the 640. Was going lighter and hammer less for backup carry. The 642 served admirably in that capacity for many years but developed the under barrel frame crack. The 442 no lock above is the warranty replacement (my request vs a new 642).

I shoot one of my snubs at least once a month(I have 6) each one is unique and the contrast between my 4 and 6 inchers is amazing so being familiar with them is a must.

I've never gotten an answer on this but is a 3" considered a snub nose? I consider my 2.5" 66 a snub nose and obviously a 4" isn't. What do you consider a 3"? I personally call it a snub nose.

.38Super - I personally and a lot of others here would call the 3" "perfect" vs. "snub". Still very concealable vs a 4 inch, adds a full length ejector rod and in most cases some added weight to help with recoil as most 3" Smiths are bull or heavy barrels.
Azula Holster update:
As noted in my original post I ordered the Azula 2 slot pancake for the 686. Recd in 4 days and free shipping. I said I would post a review, however their pull down order menu specifies different barrel lengths. I ordered the 2.5 and recd a 3". Notified their customer service and awaiting a reply. Hopefully I will receive the correct length (I hate excess holster below muzzle) and will then wear and review.

A promised update / review on Azula Holster that I mentioned in the original post. I ordered one on 7/26 for the 686 snub $49.95 free shipping. Shipping was very prompt and it seemed like a nice well made holster, but I am finicky about having extra holster hanging below the end of barrel. I emailed their customer service and explained that I had ordered for 2.5 inch not 3 and included photos. They said they would ship me a replacement but follow up emails went unanswered. I finally sent a new email last week and they replied promptly and I received replacement today. I am pleased with it. Maker stamp shows it's made in South Africa. Wearing it to break in seems to carry comfortably.
