Rant: Vanishing Original Posters on the Forum

I'm good with all of that, but how about a guy you have traded emails with a couple times about a gun for sale, who asks for pics-you send, and there isn't even an OK, Thanks?

I always figure one these things happened:

1: Somebody answered their question here and they moved on.

2: After the first couple posts didn't answer their question, they moved on.

3: Their question was answered another way, and they moved on.

4: They sold the gun and moved on.

5: They just moved on.

Or maybe they just forgot they made the post in the first place. Senility creeping in, who knows?

I try to respond to everyone who answers my questions. Sometimes I'll even send them a PM.

The times I feel I can answer someone's question, maybe help them a bit, I'll do it. If they respond or say thanks, fine.

But upset or offended because someone on an Internet forum ignores me? C'mon.

Yeah, I agree. I'm getting older, but I try (sometimes more, sometimes less) not to turn into a grumpy old man that complains about everything.
Man, I have seen a lot of that on this forum. A LOT.
Tissue?

One time posters not an unusual breed of users on many forums .. ..

They are interested in 1 specific question and after getting an answer they never return as they don't have any other questions to ask ..

I have done that MANY times! :(

I've also answered the same question months later when somebody digs up the old post... HATE when that happens... :(:(

Kids today have an expression that fits these OPs exactly.

"Hit it and quit it."

Different connotation, but the sentiment's the same....

I don't like hitters and quitters of any stripe.

They also don't have the common courtesy to say "Thank you". I pretty much feel contempt for those people.
