Without any other IWB to compare to (going on 2 months wait for the ordered Super Tuck), I give Remora a thumbs up. My Shield is carried all day, every day in one with the full sweat shield. They seem to be a very reputable company with good product. That's all I can help with at this time.

I agree with webfarmer. It's so much easier and more comfortable to carry my shield with a remora than my old faithful. I'm almost considering sending the old faithful back. But I need to try out all the positions before I do that. The way I have it now, it's hard to drive with the old faithful. But the remora is no problem at all.

Handy for carry, terrible for live fire training, and I believe in training with what you carry.

You cannot reholster without muzzling yourself.

I just ordered a Remora for my XDS's (9 & 45) I have no experience with Remora other than I have a Sticky Holster which is almost the same holster/concept.

The one I ordered is with the partial sweat shield. With the 30% off sale going on right now it was 26 and some change shipped.

I agree with Tbell on the Old Faithful..I ordered one of them and do not find it comfortable at all...not to mention I've only holstered my Shield a few times in it and already showing a bit of holster wear....seriously? I know carry gun etc prone to wear but hate to see what the Shield would look like after hundreds of re-holstering time It may be going back

I find the Sticky very comfortable and am not worried about re holstering if the shtf. It is comfortable and it stays where you put it

I'd say go for it especially with the 30% off sale going on now

I tried carrying my 40c in one for a couple of days but it wouldn't stay put, it kept sliding down my waistband. It now resides in my "drawer of holsters".

For a short trip, walking the dog or something like that I think they are fine, I prefer Sticky Holster - they are very similar to Remora but I prefer the material on the SH much more.

I sold my Remoras and picked up SH's. That said I do not use them that much anymore, once I found a holster that worked in all scenarios I had little use for the remora/sticky.

Contrary to some posters here, my Remora with the re-enforced opening with no sweat shield hugs me and my 9mm Shield in EDC and re-holstering is effortless WITHOUT having to pull out the Remora and insert the Shield and re-tuck. Pants, sweats and shorts, the best IWB for the buck. It works!

An IWB holster without a means to fasten the holster to the belt is a disaster looking for a place to happen. Friction combined with a slightly tacky surface is all that holds it in place. Think about all the things you may have to do during the day, especially bath room visits, and it is easy to see why such a "holster," if you can call it that, is just not a well thought out idea.

One woman posted in another thread that the Remora could be removed, placed in the purse and hung on the door hook in the toilet. That works with a holster which fastens to the belt also, so I do not really get the point.

You will not see too many people who are honest enough to admit that they have lost the gun down their pants or worse posting on this or other forums, as to do so betrays the fact that they "bought the kool-aid" in the first place. One poster did so, and I admire that poster for educating the rest of us.

I vote a resounding "no" on Remora or any other belt or IWB holster that does not have a means to fasten the holster to the belt. The only place for a holster without a belt type fastener is a pocket.

So Shawn, how much experience do you have with Remora holsters?

I have a Remora for my SIG P250C as well as my BG380. Both are comfortable, however both are slightly modified from stock. The slide hung on the Sig and the BG380 went in too deep. I prefer and use my CB super tuck for my SIG and an Old Faithful for the BG380.

The Sticky also fits in my front pocket as well with either my Shield or XDs

I still cant believe that the Old Faithful started to wear the finish on the Shield so quickly....on the Kydex side no less...thought Leather was more of a wearer on finish. We are talking less than 10 draws jeeesh

Can you the share the 30% off coupon? Thanks

I said nay because my experience with one wasn't good. I had read a lot of positive reports about the Remora so I got one for my Kahr CM9. I found it so sticky that I could not slide it inside my waistband with belt fastened, or even with it unbuckled. I had to undo my pants, try to get it positioned and hold it there while I redid my pants and belt, which I could never accomplish with any satisfaction. I found it overly bulky and too sticky for concealed carry on my waist or in my pants pocket.

A plus for the company: I returned it for a refund, which he did in a very prompt and friendly manner. Nice guy! :)

After that, I found a no clip holster that I really like: the Stays-Put Ultra. Just $14.95 shipped. Well made out of specially treated breathable microfiber with a smooth nylon liner. Without optional reinforcement, it stays open for easy reholstering. It is not icky sticky, yet it Stays-Put wherever I put it: in my pocket when I draw the gun, and I like to slide it inside my waistband in the AIWB position where it stays put behind my snug belt (and I don't have to unbuckle to position it). It is not nearly as bulky as the Remora and it is extremely comfortable. I have 3 of them for my small pistols.

I use one just about everyday and own several. They are extremely comfortable and stay in place with my Amish made leather belt. I have one on right now that I wore about 12 hours today.

This is the only holster that I use except when I pocket carry. For pocket carry, I use a Mika.

From photos, I'd guess the Remora material has better grip. My experience with a SW990Lc in a Sticky was "okay." I always felt (mentally that is) that it was going to slide down my pants or pop out over my waistband, but it didn't. Then the smaller Shield arrived (what I had ordered it for), and shazam. It fell into my pants once and popped out of my waistband twice.

To be fair, the Shield in an Uncle Mike's IWB Sidekick started to come out of my pants once. Part of the problem is the barrel isn't long enough to put enough of the gun's mass behind or below the beltline. I can wear that U.M. S.K. with just the belt running through the clip (holster worn outside of my shorts but inside the belt - yes, redneck, but covered with a t-shirt), and it stay put all day. But inside my jeans, the tip of the pistol was getting pushed up hard enough to push the holster clip off the pants and belt.

This thread is about the Remora (and Sticky), but my experience with the U.M. S.K. helped me rethink the Sticky holster (for the worse). For me, I haven't found a sweet spot for the Shield in the Sticky. Either it's too high and will work itself out, or if it's low enough that the gun's center of mass is well-positioned, it doesn't take too much time/motion before it falls down into the pants. It is not worth my time to even try the Remora even though the material looks to have more friction. I can't imagine having to run with a clipless holster.

My name isn't Shawn McCarver, but I support his message. ;)

Your body type probably goes a long way determining whether a Sticky/Remora type will work or not for you

I'm 5'11 about 200lbs with a 34-36 waist and have never felt like either my Shield or xDs was ever in danger of falling into my pants or popping out over the top.

As SW40 states it didn't work for him....you mileage will vary. Works fine for me and protects the firearm from holster wear. I've yet to try a nice leather IWB holster so maybe that's an option I'll explore eventually but for now the Sticky/Remora is great

Hello everyone this is my first post here in this forum and I have a question about the new leather lined Remora's.

I like them I've carried my Glocks with the original Remora and now I have a Shield so I need to order another remora, the shield fits and stays put in the remora that is sized for glocks but I'd like the correct size which of course is a little smaller.

Does anyone have any experience yet with the new leather lined model? All Remora's website says is that it is thinner but I'd like a little more info before I order because the "Hyde" leather lined models are $10 extra.

If you have a leather lined remora please post your thoughts, even better is if you have experience with the original as well as the new leather lined that would be great. Thanks

The poll should have been set up to only allow votes from those who have ACTUALLY carried a Remora IWB.
I just ordered another one for my Sig Sauer .380 P238 HDW.
