I sent a Shield 45 to S&W for issues with the trigger not resetting. S&W has had the gun for about 10 days. I received an email stating the gun has been received. When I call for information about how long the repairs will take I get non answers. Anyone have experience on their turnaround time?

I sent in a 1980's Model 60ND this past summer to correct timing issues.

Non-warranty repair.

Turnaround was 12 weeks.

Not sure if turnaround will be any faster for warranty repairs.

The good news is that the gun came back in absolutely great shape.

That's a long time. I sent a Ruger in and it took 3 days. I wait in the waiting room at Glock, usually an hour. They gotta work on that.

I just got a new 625 PC that has to go back for light hits on primers, cylinder's not chamfered, and the grips are loose and cannot be tightened.
Guess I should have paid attention to everyone having problems with guns coming out of the performance center
Now I have to wait again for my gun..
Hope their turn around time is faster..

Smith & Wesson Repair times

I sent my S & W Bodyguard back for repair on Jan 31, 2018. I got an E Mail that they received it, with an RMA #. I called yesterday and spoke with a nice young man in the customer service dept. I was told not to expect it until at least the end of next week, which would be 2-23. It has not been touched yet.

The consensus seems to be turnaround time 6 weeks +-. Pretty slow IMO.

I wonder if it depends on what model you are sending in and how many they have of them to work on. I just got my three year old M & P 22C back that was having light strikes after 50,000 rounds. They replaced the firing pin. It took 3 weeks from the time it was dropped off at Fed Ex back to my door. Round trip was on their dime.

That's an unreasonable assessment without knowing the backlog and capacity of the repair facility.

This is a more reasonable question.

I'm sure turn around for gun repair, warranty or not, is at least somewhat dependent on the gun model. I have sent both a S&W 1911 and an M&P back for warranty repair. In both cases I had the gun back in my hands within 2 weeks.

However, I noticed the Shield seems to take longer. This is probably due to the sheer volume of sales. Because they are producing them faster, there is a higher defect rate. Because of higher defect rates, they probably take longer to turn around.

I sent in my new Victory 22 pistol for a missing extractor/spring assembly back last year November. They still have it as of today. I called last week and s&w said it's still in the repair shop. Not Happy since I only owned it for 3 weeks.

Sent in my Shield 9 they received it Jan. 5th. got it back Feb. 6th. In for warranty repair on slide.

Sent a new-to-me 686 No-Dash in to have the "M" modification done on the firing pin & bushing, plus to look at my cylinder sticking.

I sent it on Aug 1st and they acknowledged Aug 8th
I called Aug 30th 2018 and was told to expect a 3-month turn-around.

Has anyone noticed any type of seasonal backlog on S&W Performance Center repairs/service, or is this just a sign of the times?
