S&W manufacturing priorities

My advice is to broaden your search area. Also some things are a lot easier to get from places like Bud's.

Yep, I would grab one from Buds or KyGunCo, if they are available. Otherwise, it might be a long wait. They both have great return policies if the gun comes in damaged.

That model is available at some of the larger gun stores but it is not available at your LGS. If I wanted it I would get it wherever it's available.

I ran into the same thing when I tried to buy a 986. None of the local stores had them, and neither did their distributors. I found three of them at a store in Ky however.

Thanks folks for the insightful comments. Not only have I gained a new perspective of this situation, I have also found some new avenues to pursue this purchase. I really try to support LGS's but sometime----and this may be one of those times----you just aren't able to. This forum is the best. I am always impressed by the courtesy and respectfulness shown in the conversations.

My LGS came through! He searched around and finally found a M&P R8 from a distributer! Gave me a price as good as the internet sites. Haven't shot it yet but have already hung a light/laser on it. Thanks to CEDAR FALLS TACTICAL in Bonne Terre MO.

These days most revolvers can be found online on either big auction sites. It's not a problem if you buy new but used I would like to evaluate in person

Have fun, great gun !!!
