Smith & Wesson® Withdraws from Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show®

The archery shop I frequent in Tampa goes to that show with an 18 wheeler they use for selling archery stuff. Big time operation. They cancelled the trip. I heard most of the archery companies are also bailing out.

Even if Reed backs down and "allows" the MSR back in, people should still not return until the Mayor issues an apology.

Just like the paid exhibitors told Reeds of their displeasure, the local business should also express their displeasure with Reeds. No major show can operate without the support of local businesses.

Yes, a bunch of local businesses (hotels, motels, transportation, bars, eating establishments, etc) all benefit from big trade shows. They will also be hurt when their local politicians make the customers feel unwelcome. Those local business need to put the heat on the mayor. Tell her that she is huring their business to the tune of $10s of millions.

The mayor is a hypocrite. She wants our money but doesn't like our viewpoint or the constitituion she probably took an oath to uphold...

There are other cities where firearms owners are welcome .

They need to put the heat on the people that made her mayor :). Her statement is rediculous. Folks, the theme of her message is more alarming to me and the way the convesation is getting framed everywhere. If this framing of 2A being about hunting and assault weapons are illegal takes hold, this could be the second coming of the healthcare "discussion". Do NOT underestimate the damage the politicians and media can do by simply repeating a false pretense. Too many people no longer think for themselves.

I read at another site (not gun site) but cannot confirm it that over 150 vendors have pulled out of that show!

I sure hope that this is true and what I hope even more is that these vendors demanded a full refund on their deposit.

Anti's listen to one sound.. cha-ching. and the best way to stop this type of bull corn behavior is to stop that sound...

Anyone else catch the anti's changing MSR from modern sporting rifle to military style rifle? Oh so clever but no money for Mayor. As for S&W, Bravo, Bravo.

I don't agree with the antis but they won. They got a slam dunk too.

Not only are ARs not being displayed….. nothing is being displayed.

Hopefully someone will organize a show to replace what was canceled.

Missing a sporting good show is a small sacrifice in the larger fight to preserve our rights.

This successful grass roots effort succeeded in not only hammering a promoter that made a bad decision, more importantly, this victory set an example of empirical evidence that lawful gun owners will vote with their feet and wallets when it come to attempts to limit their lawful enjoyment of gun ownership.

Guess who ELSE closely watched this unfold?

WASHINGTON DC

Out here on the left coast....and more specifically, the Pac NW.....little news from our Washington reaches Washington, D.C. But in Pennsylvania? Proximity to D.C. (and NYC) is important, and I'm pretty sure the cancellation of this show will have more impact than if it happened in, say, Idaho, Oregon or one of the "fly-over" states.

Good for you!

Kudos to all of the patriots that chose to make a stand. It's time to draw a line in the sand. Other states, polititians, businesses, etc. are watching what has happened in my state and are prepared to pounce if they do not see a lot of pushback from the pro gun side. This must be pushed back on every front.

I had tickets for the show. I have been going for the last 10 years. I will miss going this year, but, I am glad companies such as S&W and Cabela's pulled out and stood up for our rights.
