A friend in church was burnt badly by his Russian born wife. Those East European girls often look terrific but IMHO they're aliens from another planet, their thought processes and outlooks on life.....
One of my colleagues went through that. It started out by him wanting to travel to Russia on a vacation because that's where his grandmother came from.
He contacted a couple of different travel agencies over there and was immediately bombarded with replies from a couple of their "special tour guides"...complete with pictures of them both scantily clad in bikinis in rather provocative poses.
He decided to correspond with one of them which resulted in another barrage of...ahem...
interesting (to say the least) pictures.
Long story short...he flew over there for his vacation. In less than an hour, their relationship became "less than professional," if you catch my drift.
He brought her over to the states because she was "madly in love with him" even though there was a twenty year difference in their ages. They got married and she began a whirlwind spending spree, starting off with a couple of pairs of $500 designer shoes. Then she wanted a new car with custom paint job. (She didn't know how to drive, so private lessons came after that.)
She got her citizenship, but kept complaining about everything in the US not being like Ukraine. She got pregnant, had a baby, divorced the guy, took him to the cleaners and had him put her up in a luxurious apartment in a big metropolitan area, paying alimony, child support, and anything else she could get.
He wound up having to sell his house, work full-time, plus a couple of part-time jobs just to keep his head above water.
And to make matters worse, during the five years they were married, he had to eat her lousy cooking.
If love ain't blind, in his case, it sure as heck could've used a strong pair of glasses!
