Something unexpected

Was that in one night ? Jeez, it would take a few hours with a tiller to do that damage.

They work fast. Might only have been a half dozen, that did that.

Used to see that along creek bottoms on Fort Stewart. Could be
fifty yards wide, going on for hundreds of yards. Strong and
determined beasties.

Many years ago I had the yard hog problem. We'd sleep with the windows open. My wife can hear a mouse sneeze........Anyways she wake me up and I'd ease out and kill one with the rifle and the others would run. They kept coming. Then I'd ease out and hose them down with 00 Buck from my A5 with magazine extension. They'd leave squeeling.............The ONLY THING that really stopped them was a 2 strand electric fence around the wooded sides of the yard. They tangled in the wire twice and never came back to the yard.
Later I built a hog trap(like a jiant wire rabbit box baited with corn) and caught and killed 27. Haven't had any hog problems since.

The hogs here may be 20 or so in a pack.-Yes over night. Me and the bride put in 16 hours between us leveling up until now. A rabbit cage and a well worn mower the deck rusted away did the job. Then I used a 0 turn mower to smooth the clumps. The grass under the tree was solid yesterday. The ground was to wet for the tractor and loader.

We don't have many hog here in Ohio. The DNR reports them in some SE counties and directs hunters to shoot them on site, since they can multiply so quickly. I sure hope they don't get a foot hold here. They are quite difficult to hunt here since they are nocturnal and live in hard to access areas.

You did a nice job cleaning it up, I can't imagine what they could do to a crop field.

They came again like suggested about 02 this morning and are bigger than I thought with small ones. I thought the first one was a cow. My guard dog died about 6 months ago. Looks like I will check out the pound this morning for another. It can't be as good but who knows. I should have kept my ar but I have firepower. I just hate to cough up for night vision.

More and more towns in Texas are getting swarmed by feral hogs. The golf course owner are really facing a disaster in San Antonio. Of course the NIBMY's refuse to let the owners hire people to "take care of the problems" with firearms!!
They are everywhere, last month wife wife looked at our backyard fence line and saw a herd of deer being chased by a herd of dogs. Then she realized they were hogs chasing the deer!!

Last night I was lucky. They only got about an acre this time. Can I get a night vision scope that will work up to 150 yards for $500? Someone give me a clue. My eyes are ok I just haven't done night shooting. I would like to have a fixed 6 power. I have shot a friends ar at 200 yards with night vision at targets 15 years ago but I can't spend $6000.

On our deer lease, we have motion sensitive lights that slowly turn on when the sensors detect movement. The lights , we use four around a feeder, are green in color, and bright enough to easily see from 100 yds away. There has never been a need for night vision scopes after we installed the lights. I believe we got them off Amazon, but not sure. Shooting them was no problem, but for making a dent in the population we rely on traps.

Are you saying the lights are bright enough you can shoot with a regular scope and see the cross hairs? I have electricity at the pool. I have a scope with a red and green dot in the middle that is battery powered. I have a red dot also but 1.5 power.

Go to youtube and look at the hog videos. They use green lights.

We had them out at Cape Canaveral and on the NASA side . They can tear up some grass better than a plow . It got so bad the put out bids for trappers . They would trap them , feed them corn , then butcher them for non-profit food banks in the area .

On the Cape side there's a road close to the beach , the old A1A . there's no lights out there and if there's no moon , dark as Hades . I knew a couple of guys that hit hogs out there , a coworker hit one on a motorcycle . Not something you want to do .

Check these out, a little more than $500 but they are pretty nice.
I have the X sight 4k and can see coyotes at 150-200 yards easily.
They also have refurbished ones for a little less $
