Something unexpected

Last night I was lucky. They only got about an acre this time. Can I get a night vision scope that will work up to 150 yards for $500? Someone give me a clue. My eyes are ok I just haven't done night shooting. I would like to have a fixed 6 power. I have shot a friends ar at 200 yards with night vision at targets 15 years ago but I can't spend $6000.

That is a declaration of war ! Not sure what NV costs, but if spotlighting is legal then that would be the next step.

Go to youtube and look at the hog videos. They use green lights.

<<<Thanks for all replies. I am weighing them all>>>> Can I paint a bulb green? I have elect. in the area and green paint. I need to try something tonight.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx I am on my way to the store for motion sensors and green lights. I just now found out a new neighbor hunts hogs and has trapped several hundred and other people in my area are having the same problem. I think I will take him a 30 pack and talk about it.:)TOMOROW needs to be better. I have fence chargers also if needed. I don't need this much exercise.

Are you saying the lights are bright enough you can shoot with a regular scope and see the cross hairs? I have electricity at the pool. I have a scope with a red and green dot in the middle that is battery powered. I have a red dot also but 1.5 power.

No problem seeing the crosshairs, but it's sure not like full daylight - more like dawn.

Many years ago I had the yard hog problem. We'd sleep with the windows open. My wife can hear a mouse sneeze........Anyways she wake me up and I'd ease out and kill one with the rifle and the others would run. They kept coming. Then I'd ease out and hose them down with 00 Buck from my A5 with magazine extension. They'd leave squeeling.............The ONLY THING that really stopped them was a 2 strand electric fence around the wooded sides of the yard. They tangled in the wire twice and never came back to the yard.
Later I built a hog trap(like a jiant wire rabbit box baited with corn) and caught and killed 27. Haven't had any hog problems since.
Bet you got tired of BBQ

OK- I got the sensors up and green lights and my JM 357 Marlin against the door with 358 Hornady. This is not going to get me down. One guy suggested a tape with AC-DC <the band>on the sensor. I have the feeling they will do me in tonight again. I will win in the end. I have been bored for a while and this is waking me up. I saw the tannerite thing and loved it. Pigs 40 feet in the air. Thursday night I was able to get off 15 rounds of 22 lr from my 550 as they were leaving. SATURDAY morning--no activity Friday night.

Not really good to eat unless very young. I got to where I would gut shoot them so they would die somewhere else. I put them in the same class a rats & roaches.

That depends on how hungry you are or how long that you have been eating just salads.

Nothing new to report other than the ground is not level but I can blade it after it's over.xxxxxxxxxxx Sunday morning--all is well. I did hook up an fm radio to the sensor lights.xxxxxxxMonday The 14'th and they haven't come back. I think they are waiting for me to level it up again.XXXXTuesday 15--still ok.xxxxxx-Wednesday--Now they are staying out of the light and moving back. My neighbor offered to lone me one his 6 AR's and I have never met him. He must be a nice guy.:)XXXXXXXXXXXXXX-Also Tuesday afternoon I replaced the green lights with white and today is Saturday and still good.XXXXX--Wednesday 23rd. still gone.

WELL--they nailed me again last night but not where I installed sensors with lights. They moved north about 300 feet. I have had about 50 calls about getting rid of them for free. I am ordering some solar sensor strobe lights with gun noise this morning to try first. Last night was a full moon and they did it after 3AM. The pigs aren't bothering people on either side of me.

When I woke up the wife asked did I mow the grass wet? I looked out the window and said no-that looks funny. It was too wet to mow. Well--- I went out and my back yard was totaled. I have been heer since '84. Time to invite the boys over.:eek::mad::mad::mad::mad:
If you've been there since 1984 and this is your first rodeo with pigs, you're one lucky S O B. The problem is they now have the ground softened up, so THEY WILL BE BACK.

Where are you located in Texas? I have a little device for my tractor that can level hog damage back out.

I think they brought some friends this time but it was after 430am. It's like they are getting ready for a concert. The sensors seem to work but I need about 300 more. They get up to the range of them. I may plant some watermelons --they are doing the plow work and it ain't green anymore and I just did the winter cleanup.

If you plant anything in that spot, you'll need a good fence to keep the pigs out of it. My brother has a double layer of hot wire around his garden, and it's been raided more than once by pigs and deer. I'm trying raised beds this year, and I guess they are close enough to my house nothing has bothered them, plus I have two yappy dogs.
