STAG GRIPS: The Definitive Thread

Please don't take it the wrong way- nothing bad about the gun, it's just that stag boot grip is so nice. :)

Thanks, I took it that way. That gun has been carried a bunch. My dad has had it since he "borrowed" it from me last year.

Now where can I get some stag for my Model 27?

messerist, It looks like the hands down winner in this thread is Patrick Grashorn, aka 'Executioner.' He can be found in the classifieds on this forum or at his website. I keep telling my 'adult supervisor,' er... make that 'better half' that a set of K square in elk would look great under the tree....

I'm with Gary7 on dressing up a Heavy Duty with stags. These are Grashorn magnas on a 1934 HD that has seen a little more wear than his spectacular piece. The fit is almost
right; because the prewar steel frame was just a bit different from the postwar frame, there's a bit of overhang here and there.

I like these grips so much they sometimes move from gun to gun. I have some proper service stocks (though not the original ones) for this gun to wear when the horn has gone someplace else for a while.

Here's a little 2" 15 graced by the work of Patrick........Zebulon

....and another set.....

I'm behind on my reading due to a computer failure, but don't feel apologies are necessary for resurrecting a post with so many beautiful pics. My contribution is nothing special: a '52 pre-Model 20 Heavy Duty with "bumper shop" plating job and period stags from an unknown maker. This was the duty gun of a central Texas Deputy Sheriff in the '50s-'60s and shows finish wear, but the stags have aged beautifully. (I just wish I could get the bark of the grips to show up better, but the camera is concentrating on that bright plated finish!)

To further promote Mr. Grashorn's work here are three sets he's made for me:

This set is on a 4th Model 44 Hand Ejector, also known as the 1950 Model 44 Target I believe.

Gonna have to get a picture of the 1953 nickeled Heavy Duty away from it's older cousin. The plane elk stocks look nice enough to deserve their own picture.

Hope you S&W lovers will pardon the appearance of a lightly customized Flat-top Ruger 44 Blackhawk, but it does sport some of Patrick's better work. I sent him the grip frame and he custom fit the stocks to it.
