strange call from "microsoft???"

If he calls back after 48 hours tell him your buddy fixed it and your IP is still working. Your buddy fixed it for only $150.
I had a similar experience from a PC help center. The guy told me I had a virus and I had to take it to a Microsoft center to have it removed at a cost of $300. He called me three times and I finally told him he was a scammer and don't even call me again. He hasn't called back since then.

Ask them to call you back on your landline. Then give local PD number. Or FBI.

S&WIowegan, my elderly mom is the same way. She gets tons of calls daily from "Unknown caller" or "no name listed". I tell her repeatedly not to answer them and she does anyway. All she says is, " I just want to see who it is." It's always someone wanting to sell her a back brace or to enhance her Medicare experience. I gave up trying to convince her not to answer because it just isn't going to work. My mom is 90 so I think it must be a generational thing.
