Texas is no longer the Bastion it once was

Kdf, I lived in Texas for six years. Wonderful,State. Here is what I learned about Texas. Travis County is not part of Texas. It is an Island of dingbats and whackos and more commonly known as politicians. Really Travis County is further left than California.

Because 60% of Travis county is California expats.

Saxet will have no problem finding a new home either in a non-county owned facility in Travis county or in any of the surrounding counties. Hope it is on the east side this time.

This also brings up another question. What is the county planning to do to to replace the $128000 in revenue they just flushed?

The county is trying to require registration. Travis county. Austin. What a major failure. This is an example of what happens when the anti-Constitutionalistas get local government control. Cities pass illegal "ordinances" counties try end runs around state and federal law.
Nudge, nudge. Austin has an incredible record of corruption, they would have their hands full if the laws on the books were being enforced, but they, like some other entities, choose to look the other way, and persecute the law abiding gun owner. Shameful.

Vote 'em out!

:rolleyes:It occurs to me that the Travis County Commisioners must have heard about the terrible mayhem and running gun battles that happened in Tulsa at the biggest show on earth, especially after the open carry law passed in Oklahoma! Thank heavens the Travis County Commissioners are protecting us.

they have a bill in Washington state that is coming up for a vote that would require all guns sales (even private) to require background checks...fortunately there is also another bill being voted on at the same time that will keep all the laws as they are now for background checks for gun sales...I just hope there is enough realistic people here to vote the right way

And the Liberal Do-Gooders have destroyed another Venue. I can not wait until my Wife retires to leave this once wonderful City, as it is nothing of what it once was.

Everyone knows that Austin was lost to the fruitcakes a long time ago. I lived there roughly two and a half years and couldnt wait to get the hell out. Ive now been back to a sane area for 30 months and loving it. I still have things that cause some stress as we all do, but im not out-numbered by liberals here like in Austin--which I call "The liberal stronghold of Texas" like Houston also is--and I lived in that hell hole for 14 months. Also, you cant say Texas is no longer the bastion it once was--at least yet--its just Austin and Houston that are ****ed up. I was living there when bill white (uber liberal who turned Houston into a whorehouse) tried running against Perry as Gov. 56% of Travis County voted for him, im not sure what percentage of those in Harris County did? Im sure a LOT more.

Dont get me wrong, I made a few good friends while I lived in Austin, but I met more than my fair share of stark-raving lunatics there too, whom I wouldnt buy a cup of coffee for.

Also on the Saxet Shows, the hell with Austin, they can always find another nearby locale to hold their shows at. Here they are greatly welcomed and the shows here are some of their best. I fell sorry for normal folks like you and your wife to be surrounded by lemmings.

I voted for the first time in that last election for Perry, and broke one of my rules to never vote straight party lines, but did that one time, mainly as a protest against the lunacy I saw that has become Austin.

Our job is to jerk the reins until the horses ... gets turned in the right direction. Those commissioners did that to stay in office, and the national conversation IS affected by local results. Our State Legislators should be contacted to bring pressure on those low level politicians in Travis and correct this violation of law.
County Commissioners are not allowed to make law.
We know Austin City and Travis selectively enforce law, and ignore real, dangerous threats. For years they ignored the existence of MS13 in the barrio, and refer to Austin regularly as a "sanctuary city".
Texas is in danger of the capitol city falling into the "DC Beltway" mentality, and our representatives forgetting who sent them, and why.
Contact your elected state rep. Write your Governor.
Stand and Fight.

That's nothing. Imagine 8 million people just like those living in Austin, now you know what the rest of NY State has to go through dealing with the fools in NYC.

Replace "F" from fools to "T" for............

I got my learned experience starting with living in Houston never thinking it could ever be worse--that is, after finding out what Austin turned into. That's one of the many reasons why I have great sympathies for you all up there. Im also friends with a great Gent who used to be a "Top Cop" of Westchester County, and he tells me a lot of the same things being said here. I do have some understanding what you all are going through and it makes my blood boil.

That said, this should tell you what im all about, im registered with the Constitution Party (same as Tea Party) im a Constitutionalist.

I'm a bit confused here. Who sets the requirement for BG checks, the state or the county? Local municipalities have no say so whatsoever as to gun laws here in FL.

All I can say is that after i overheard some guy at a gun show mention that "I don't wanna go through an FFL incase I have to use it as a throw away" .....after hearing that i don't care if you are G. Washington himself you aren't getting my rifles unless the come out of my name and go into yours

Don't judge the State of Texas based upon Austin and Travis Co. Austin/Travis Co. is Texas' own version of San Francisco. It has always been well to the left of the rest of the state. The State's major cities also tend to be more liberal than the rural areas and small/medium sized population areas.

That's where the seller needs to exercise good judgement and morals and decline the sale. If something doesn't pass the smell test they shouldn't just to make some quick $$$$$. I don't believe in FTF BG checks.

Read all of the article, it gives details on your question. They really have no legal grounds for their action. From the article: "Last year, Attorney General Greg Abbott threatened to sue the county if they terminated their 2013 contract with Saxet." and "Even though commissioners honored the remainder of that contract, Biscoe acknowledged they are prepared to face litigation regarding their decision to pass on the 2014 proposal." They are on very shaky legal ground and they know it.

Like other have said Austin is our San Francisco.
