The 1 that you could take anywhere

Well, since the point is "take anywhere", and we're in the
S&W Revolvers, 1980 to the Present
Forum, and notwithstanding the fact that I have driven cross country with an N frame under a jacket, I think a 2" K frame would be my choice. I used to have a boatload of them but after my 2018 fire they were mostly water stained but functional but I couldn't look at them any longer so BUH-BYE but I have retained two and either one of these would go anywhere:

I'll post the M10 after I get a new picture of it because I transformed it with new, rosewood Magnas but this customized M64 will definitely do to ride the river with, or the Interstate.

And I can pocket carry that gun if I have to with very little problem and that's speaking from experience.

Be careful about flying into NYC/NJ, even with LEOSA on your side. They make up their own rules, none of them good. Here in MA, any magazine with more than 10 capacity is a felony, and they don't honor a carry permit from any other state.

Maryland also does not honor carry permits from any other state. Maryland is becoming the "mini me" to California.

If I may add my two cents, with the NJ perspective. NJ enforces it's own laws until the state gets berated in federal court for not recognizing federal law. NJ also has it's own twist on interpreting LEOSA, if the officer in question didn't have arrest authority while on the job, NJ won't honor the validity of the LEOSA permit.

Too often, I hear of someone trying to fly either into, or out of, a NJ airport following TSA regulations, and they are arrested for violation of NJ gun laws.

If you are looking for hollow point performance, the NJSP website specifically identifies Hornady Critical Defense ammo as legal, but ... In most respects, the 21 county prosecutors are on the same page, only when it comes to gun charges, they are very anti-gun and prosecute even if they know that they will eventually lose.

When it comes to bail, bail reform seems to apply for virtually everyone that is charged, EXCEPT for the law-abiding gun owners. Even State Supreme Court rulings are ominously worded claiming to own a gun is done so at one's own risk. A point to keep in mind is the (1947) State Constitution doesn't grant the individual the right to self-defense.

With respect to what revolver would I recommend for travel in all 50 states? I would suggest an old Model 13 that you are not attached to in the event that it is confiscated. The police don't always abide by court orders in a timely fashion.

Steel, 3", 6 round...
Best all around revolver.

THIS!

My favorite Revolver is the M24-3 below... It can be loaded with everything from 200 grain full wads at 800fps up to 255 grain hard cast "Keiths" at a 1,000fps... and everything in between. I find myself carrying her with 200grain Gold Dots for downtown Highlands and other social places. It's Underwood's "Heavy Keith's" for fishing, kayaking, hiking... anytime in the Great Outdoors.

After pondering a response I have, I believe determined the correct course of action, "Why go there?" If lawful gun owners are treated worse than criminals, those states, counties, cities don't need or want (nor will get) my money.
The only exception is that I cannot get from southern Illinois to Wisconsin without buying 8 gallons of Illinois gasoline. Pushing my Chevy Colorado is not an option.

Same here! I'll never set foot in New Jersey or even worse, New York ever again. I'm not going to be disarmed and conditioned to be a victim when visiting those localities. All the family that lives there can comes stay with me anytime but I'll never visit them again and they understand why considering the things that have happened to me in my past.
