The 1 that you could take anywhere

Out of my CCW rotation I find myself carrying a Glock 26.5 with a 12+1 most of the time. Being retired I frequently ride a motorcycle and don't worry about losing it as I jam down the road.

FYI: Under LEOSA cops can carry any non NFA handgun, however, it doesn't contemplate magazine capacity. If states or jurisdictions have mag restrictions you're not covered. However, it does cover ammo, allowing for the carry of hollow points in those jurisdictions that have prohibitions against it.

First let me state that I own and shoot revolvers, a lot. I'm sold on the idea of semiautos though as self defense guns... I mean the technical problems of making a small, powerful, and reliable semi have been solved by numerous makers.
AFAIK, no State bans semiautos per se, it's all about magazine capacity. If anybody knows of a State where a semi with a 10 round or less magazine isn't legal to own please share as I would like to know myself.

Retired LE, with LEOSA for 50-state carry. I bought some ten round mags for my Glock 17 when I retired out. I still qual once per year with the G17 under LEOSA, but truthfully I have not actually carried it in nearly four years. The 5-shot J frames (I got a few of them in the safe), are what I actually take with me when I hit the road for interstate travel. Experimenting with the Barami Hip grip on one of the hammerless J frames. Slowly becoming a believer in this contraption...

I have carried these two coast to coast with zero issues.

Colt Combat Commander (bob tail by Ed Brown) and S&W 340sc (1st year issue)

If it would have to be a revolver then it would have to be my 2 1/2 686. For me it carries well and I shoot it well. Along with 3 speed loaders.

Of my revolvers, likely my M66 4" RB with .38 SWC in it and a few speedloaders of those and 2 of .357s. If my .357 lever gun ever comes in and were set up, it would be a good pair.
Forum member Nyeti has discussed on another forum his choices, which I think involved a 7 shot L frame.
Last trip I took, my primary carry gun was my 4" PC Shield with RDS and 2 spare mags. (9mm of course.)

After pondering a response I have, I believe determined the correct course of action, "Why go there?" If lawful gun owners are treated worse than criminals, those states, counties, cities don't need or want (nor will get) my money.

The only exception is that I cannot get from southern Illinois to Wisconsin without buying 8 gallons of Illinois gasoline. Pushing my Chevy Colorado is not an option.

If a revolver, I feel most comfortable with my old Model 60.

Can I give one vote for my S&W M&P 9mm, PC edition? Absolutely love it (but don't tell my revolvers!).

If we are talking wheelguns... My 686-3... snub!

Otherwise.. just a Glock (but that just ain't no fun, right?)

3" M65 since that is what I have, sold it, but the buyer backed out, so I will just keep it.

OR a 3" M686+, if I had one.

Be careful about flying into NYC/NJ, even with LEOSA on your side. They make up their own rules, none of them good. Here in MA, any magazine with more than 10 capacity is a felony, and they don't honor a carry permit from any other state.
