The perfect handgun.

A few years ago I did an article for the perfect handgun for the one gun person here in Maine.
Took all the criteria, threw it out on the table and came up with with my Model 66-2 2 1/2". I did change out the stocks for a pair of Mr. Grashorn's pre-war magnas, making a better fit for my small hands. For me, this fills the bill as most comfortable, concealable, accurate within reasonable distances, all around gun.

At the moment, it is my firm opinion that the Glock 19X is the perfect daily carry defensive handgun, if you don't need to conceal it . . .

Have you found a model and configuration that just fits you like a glove, hits what you aim at, and you regard the most perfect handgun in the world?
If so, what model is it?
If not, what is your major complaint with current designs?

Me, I like my 686+, 3".

Semi-auto...1911..best for me is a Commander size in .38 Super

DA revolver S&W N-frame 4"...57/657

SA...Freedom Arms 97...any caliber

CCO's are the best concealed carry 1911 going IMO.........much more reliable than the early Officer's Model................

took almost 40 years to get the Commander and another 30some for the CCO

Edit: with Wilson Combat magazines.... still 7+1 ......w/ 8 round spares.

Right now, it's my M&P Shield 9 1.0. LOVE the gun!

Got a 3.6" 2.0 Compact 9mm on the way so we'll see if it lasts...

Before last Monday, my answer would have been the 686 SSR. That revolver is "super sweet"!!! Then last Tuesday I picked up a new Colt Gold Cup National Match. I'm still getting use to it and trying different loads etc but it sure feels good!!! Jury is still out, verdict will announced at a later date. LOL.

I really like the 19/66 snubs for personal defense and I am considering finding a 66-5 and copy the Yost 66 for my new EDC. The 19-4 is getting pretty long in the tooth...………..

The best all around handgun for me would be the Ruger SP-101 3". My dad always insisted it was the perfect gun, and I've come to agree with him. It will do everything you need a handgun to do.

If the SP-101 isn't available then I'll take my other favorite, the 3" Model 65. Again, a gun that is capable of anything you need done.

I must really like those two revolvers, I have three of each at the moment.

Gen 3 Glock 17 for home/hotel defense.
S&W centennial J-frame(currently a 642) for carry.

I wouldn't consider either perfect or ideal, but they are still a pretty good fit for me and my preferred weapons out of what is currently available.

For me, it's my 4" m&p9 2.0. It's dead reliable, the ergos are perfect for me and it hits whatever I aim at. After that, it's a toss up between my 58 and 581.
