I love picture threads and have yet to start one so im making today my day!

Earlier today I was out back at home shooting my 4006 for the first time since I bought it 2+ years ago (not a big fan of .40) and it got me thinkin. I absolutely love picking up an excellent quality handgun for under $400 as I paid $399 for the 4006 in 98% condition. Too me $400 is the staple of inexpensive when it comes to handguns. i think some of the guns we dont consider "picture worthy" need a day in the spotlight! Anything I consider quality these days is usually 700+. So I counted up the ones I paid under $400 for before tax and here they are! (My shield didnt even make the cut :p)

All in minimum 95% condition...

I just check the inventory list. I paid 413 for the 696, and the two Titanium 32 H&R J-frames were just over 500 each.

Everything else I have was 400 or less. Most under 3.

Are you talking "purchase price" or "money spent on them"? 200 for a used 19 and then another 250 to Robar.

330 for the 28, and then another 450 having it converted to 38 WCF.

:D

544, 44/40, 300

100 for the chopped 1917, 165 for the 32HE

250 for the 65, but the 696 sightly went over 4.

Three each for these Js

Two for the Victory, 3 anda quarter for the kit-gun

Less than 2 for this renickeled 32/20

Just over three for this Airlite 22

And 4 even for the 29-2

That's all I've got pix of.

I've paid too soon too often, these are some of my better deals.

Re: OP. I understand that you are referring to guns bought in the last few years as opposed to those purchased say 10-20 years ago? If so... then in the last two years I've bought a 15-3 for 325, a 19-4 for 282, a RIA 1911-A1 for 270, and a SA GI 1911-A1 for 400.

These were all gifts..but I was told that the 17 given to my boy when he was born 5 years ago was $400...but you'd have to ask MickeyD

This 442 set me back $200. But I did spend a c-note to hard chrome it...so I guess $300.

LAPD Commemorative (original grips were auctioned off for our departed friend Emory Crofoot)....$285 at my local pawn shop...

Maybe not the steal of the century but still decent. This
M&P9c was new in the box with 3 mags and night sights. He had 489.00 on it but on the last day of the show he needed money to get home. I walked out with everything pictured plus 100 rounds of ammo for 375.00

I paid less than $400 for the two of these. Both very serviceable shooters.

I allowed $150 in trade for this one about five years ago.

I paid $299 + tax for this Model 19.

The ones I still have:

29-2 NIB $181
19-2 NIB $118
60 NIB $165
34-1 NIB $110
13-3 $300
642 $350
K22 boxed 1948 $350
K22 1950 $110

Here are all of my $400- "bargains"...

Model 66-2 that I rescued from a Pawn Shop recently. I have plans to make this a "project" gun so stay posted for future pics after I "pretty" it up. My 642 for my daily carry, and a M&P Shield .9mm for the wife. All purchased for $400 or less.

Geez Charlie,
Unless you're ripping people off you probably still have the tags on these from when they were brand new. The first four on your list were from 1962, 1961, pre-1972, and 1960. No matter what, they are all awesome guns that I wish I could have paid those prices for.
