The ultimate Model 19/66 Combat Magnum thread

Here's my 66-1 96K72xx Though I am sure there are more, I have scoured every picture of a 66-1 on this site and have yet to find one with the left side roll mark and P&R, does anyone have a left side roll mark that is P&R if so please post a pic of it, thanks.

I have one on layaway. PICK IT UP TOMORROW! Pretty much identical to yours. 66-1, Pinned and recessed, left side roll mark, 2.5 inch barrel with red ramp. Texas DPS Trooper pistol number 28043 on the lt side.

Will post the picture as soon as I pay it out.

Look forward to the pictures RMatthew.

In the meantime, here's 19-4 97K48xx

I got them from Altamont. They are the K Round Conversion Target Checkered in Super Walnut with medallions. I think they are great and they look even better in person. :)

Navarre..I just put the Houge Mono grip wood combats on my 19-4 2 1/2". Post #382. I think I will be selling (saving)them and getting the Altamonts. I really like that look.

mbliss57-- You will not be disappointed. I originally purchased these because they were the only grips I could find that looked liked they came from S&W and were the RB conversions. I just like the look of the sharp corners on the SB grips. I cannot say enough good things about them. :)

Look forward to the pictures RMatthew.

Here are some pictures. I brought it home and found some problems. It is now on its way back to Smith and Wesson for some needed care, if it is deemed repairable it is still mine.

M66-1, SN.96K68XX, round butt, 2.5 inch, DPS#28043, pinned and recessed

If you don't mind me asking, what are the problems that might not be repairable? It looks mighty fine, otherwise.

I've only ever owned 2 Model 19's.
This was my first one, a Model 19 -7 with a round butt. I carried it with a set of round butt magnas. Shot great but something better came along. Cannot remember the serial number range.

S&W M19-7

This would be that something better I think.
Model 19 -5 with a square butt and factory target grips. Almost no wear on the gun and very tight action.
Serial AYM6***

S&W M19-5

Here's mine, 1974 2.5" Snubbie, I have the original grip's but fitted it with a Houge (as pictured) She's had less than 1000 lifetime rounds, purchased it from my Grandfather the original owner. Pinned and Recessed, and just an absolute joy to shoot.

Hi there... I am looking at a Model 66 for sale in another state The revolver is in “as new” condition and is stated to have had little use. The owner says it is an early version with stainless steel sights as opposed to later versions which had blackened sights. There is no dash in the model designation and the serial is 2K82Xxx. Cylinder has recessed chambers. Original box is in very good condition, has original owners instruction sheet and parts list. As well the original sales invoice dated August, 1973 is there also.

My issue is that I can't trace the serial number to one that makes sense in this thread. At introduction the intial serial numbers are in excess of this one.

Can anyone shed some light on this please? It has a 4 inch barrel.

Thanks.
