Can I join?

Here are a couple of not-so-great (iPhone) pictures of my Model 66 no-dash, Serial #9K849XX. I recently acquired this, complete with the original numbered box, grips, tool kit & papers. The revolver currently has a target trigger and hammer installed, but came with all of the original parts and a spare set of grips. It has been loved and used, but not abused. Fits my hand beautifully and shoots POA.

Picked up these two old work horses recently and thought I would share them,
Both have a little bit of holster wear but plenty of life still left in them.

Model marked 19 no dash from mid 1958 (according to SCSW) in the K-346,400 range ,

Model 19-2 K-521,358 that shipped in April 1964 that was a former LE gun from ME.

Chris, Have you ever seen one with such a large football cutout before or do you think it was modified?

Perhaps the favorite K frame in my safe, my 66-1 that I carried for several years on the job. It is one of the somewhat rare long barreled guns, measuring a full 6 1/8 from the forcing cone to the muzzle.

The prettiest, a 1971 vintage 19-3. Even after being carried in a holster daily for a couple of years it has very little wear and the deep blue that was the hallmark for so long.

My most utilitarian, a 1979 vintage 19-4. I have more rounds through this gun than any other I own. I quit counting at 25,000. Smooth as glass action, this too was an on duty carry for me for several years. The holster wear speaks to how much the quality of bluing at Springfield changed during the 70's.

Yes, lots of them. But I think they're modified, like the rest most likely were.
Just adds to it for me.

I'd call the ones on K346... large factory relief. Seen plenty smaller, relieved for the extractor star only.:)

Love the blued 4" on this page. Nothin better to me than a Combat Magnum with real honest wear on it.

Was one of those the one you got off gunbroker? I was watching it and checked it after it ended only to see your name as the buyer :D

Yep, that was me....two others mentioned they were watching that one as well,
Weird thing is the auction ended at like 1:30 am and I was waiting up at work to bid at the end,
Of course the tones went off like 20 minutes before the auction ended so I just hit the the opening bid offer,
We came back from the call like 30 minutes later and I was surprised to see I had won it....
I truly believe the ones that are meant to be ours come to us .

The matte blue 2.5” Model 19-5s

The ‘first’ ones were made for the U.S. Dept of State and have an AN prefix.
The interesting part is that they appear in the ANN8xxx’s, ANP0xxx’s, ANP5xxx’s, and also the ANR8xxx’s.
How many the order was for and/or how many orders were made confuses me because although some of the ANN8xxx range shipped in Dec, 1986; ANP07xx and ANP55xx shipped in Oct, 1986, with ANR8xxx shipping in the beginning of 1987.

Interesting to me is that a lot of S&W’s product codes for different models start at xxxxx2. Maybe they did that to leave room for **Special** orders.
Although I have not come across many of the DSS Model 19-5’s with their boxes, the ones I have seen all had the product code 100701.
