Here is an unusual 66-1, a NH State Police gun, equipped with target stocks and a lanyard loop. Not everyday you see this configuration!
Here is an early 6" 19-2, which belonged to Charles Wendell. He was the man who created Kearsarge stocks. When I found this gun it was wearing the set of stocks below, with his own personal monogram on them, CBW.
Nickel CM, from the first block of 5000 serial numbers. This gun belonged to a very close friend of Mr. Wendell, and it had a set of smooth stocks on it also carved by him. The stocks are marvelous to hold, I have never held a better fitting set of stocks in my hand. The smooth stocks are shown below:
I have a few other examples as well, probably time to update some of my gun porn....
Not a very good picture, but this is a 66 no dash with the stainless rear sight. One of my all time favorite revolvers to shoot, to die for accuracy.

Got a message that I wasn't sharing, etc so here's a quickie pic of my 19-4 and 66-2. I bought the 66 in the 80's and had the Cake-Davis company round butt the gun. I also put so many hot loads through it that I sent it back to S&W and they tightened it up. As I recall I was getting some pretty high chrono readings for a 4 incher.
I bought the 19 used in 2005 for $189.00 at my local small gun shop. I asked why the price was so low. The answer: "you don't want to know". Suicide gun seemed the obvious, if sad, answer but we can't blame the gun. It has some wear and pits from being out in the weather but I have no plans to have it refinished. It's wearing reshaped and oil finished Herrett Shooting Stars.
I'm really appreciating everyone else's pictures, by the way.

One of my favorite bring-alongs. I had one of these years back, same in all ways, and in a moment of insanity I sold it. It took me a few years before another one came home with me. The stocks are smooth elk horn made by forum member Executioner.
Here is a pair of 19-2 shooters. And let me tell you, they shoot really fine, but you probably already know firsthand how these remarkable K frames are.
The 6" gun is wearing a set of K frame cokes, no SN inside them, but they have black washers. Note the non-football cutout on the top of the left panel. And the non gloss finish. The 4" gun has stocks with the football cutout, but they also have the same slight curve as the cokes have, I am not sure if they are officially K frame cokes though. The finish is glossy as you can see.

well im new to the 19 but im wondering how you tell if its a 4 screw? and i guess thats good to have? remember im new to model 19, i just got one a 19-4

There would be a screw in front of the trigger guard, on the bottom edge of the frame. A 19-4 is a 3 screw gun.

Very nice holster with that shooter! Congrats on the find.
I have had this no dash 66 for about 12yrs now. I got it for $275 back then and learned it had a checkered past (it spent hard some time in an evidence room but never got the electric pencil treatment).
I never was all that interested in learning more about it until recently. It has a serial number of 9K242xx. I think it was made in the mid 70's but I am not certain. I have no idea what stocks this should be wearing but anything more authentic would look better imho. It is a brilliant shooter though.

Coug76, Standard Catalog of S&W shows that serial numbers: 9K10001 through 9K99999 were shipped in 1976
I agree! I prefer the original type stocks over the Goodyears!! Yours most likely came with the standard target stocks. The picture below is my N frame 629, but the stocks for your K frame 66 would look similar...

My other 2 19's.. 19-4 2 1/2" with new Hogue mono grip combat and 19-4 4" unfired since factory. I really love the light weight but solid feel of these magnums. And their accuracy is fantastic.
