They called 'em Space Guns!

Thanks for sharing, John. Those are truly remarkable.

I went through some of their vintage advertisements online and in some cases it seemed more general purpose and in others, target shooters.

I guess what i am wondering is who was their target market? How did people feel about them at the time, who maybe were not target shooters? Just wondering. :)

I bought mine from this guy.
Looks legit, BATFE gives preferential treatment when processing FFL's for aliens...;)...Ben

I've had a long term and drama-filled relationship with a 10-X, but it's now doing well. From what I know it had a difficult childhood (from the day it was born in Houston) before I acquired it. After a serious health scare (cracked frame) she's back on the line doing what she does best.

Being from Houston, she's the bipolar redheaded stepchild of the Yankee guns but she can hold her own with any .22 out there. She's my primary rimfire gun.

I have a Hi-Standard Supermatic Trophy Model 105 with 7 inch barrel and with compensator and got 4 mags with it ( 2 in boxes) Serial # 1199xxx
and also have a Hi-Standard Supermatic Model S-100 with 5 inch barrel serial # 446xxx. Both are great shooters, had a military one for a while but sold it to my brother but he won't sell it back, my bad. I also have a Walther PP Sport Serial # 743xxC with 6 inch barrel and a S&W Model 46 with 5 inch barrel Serial # 276xx, all are great shooters and are fun to shoot, take all of them to the range and never had a misfire or failure to eject, get a lot of questions at the range about my "Space gun" but tell them to wait until after I shoot, LOL.

My son is named after my wife's father who was generally known as Buck. Problem was his given name that no one knew was Marvin so when my proud wife showed of her new baby boy she always had to explain how Marvin was named after her dad. Our son had a lot of Marvin the Martian memorabilia. I'm thinking about another piece for his belated fortythird birthday. Don't think he's an alien though.

Mine didn't cost nearly as much...
But it's not as much fun.

we had a gun club at work and shot indoor .22 matches a lot. I had a heavy barreled ruger MKII and one day the guy who ran our club said should check out this gun an older gentleman wanted to sell. It was a Mark I that had the full Clark treatment. Trigger, sights, barrel and porting. sweet shooter. I ended up putting an early red dot on it and i jumped and easy 10 points. Dot never left the black during rapid fire strings.

I enjoy shooting these
During the winter months I used to shoot an indoor 22 league at the local sportsman club. This was mid 1980s. There was a very colorful character that brought one of these, he let me handle it, and I was hooked. I knew I had to own at least one.
