Second model. It was described to me as a little finish missing, with medallion grips. Overall pretty good. (my buddy had just a short look at it) Even halfway decent, with good grips, I figured it might be worth it...

Went yesterday too look at it. Sigh. It was rusted and pitted at one time. And then refinished. And, then re-rusted and re-pitted. Serious pitting. Deeper than the S&W logo stamp. The hammer and trigger were blued. The grips indeed had medallions, but, they were 1980 era Targets. The lanyard hole was plugged and, alot of the markings were almost washed out. On the bright side, all the numbers actually matched. I had to pass, I don't think I could even part it out as the internals (that I could see) had rust on them AFTER the last time it was reblued.

I really didn't think I could find an old N frame that I would pass on for $300 or so...but, it happened.

Most likely this is one of the many, many guns "converted" into shooters by machining the back of the cylinder to accept .45ACP Moon or Half Moon Clips after WW-II. If it hadn't already been 'converted' and the cylinder was still in at least "usable" condition these are bringing big buck all by themselves. But, the "converted" cylinders are a dime a dozen. MAK

Its always sad to see a fine old Smith crapped out like that. He could sell it to a dealer at a gunshow though and next day it would be priced at $500 as a "rare collectible".

Only if you believe there is a sucker born every minute!!! I will admit that there are a Very Large number of people who are ignorant and many of them are in the Gun World. That's why sites like this are so important but, yes, Guns Shows are a place for "Buyer Beware" especially since there are "bad eggs" on both sides of the Tables. I've had lots of "Customers" try to sell me a "Bill of Goods" about a particular firearm. And, I've also had "Gun Dealers" who didn't know "Sh*t from Shinola" about what they were selling. MAK

He just needs to come up with a realy great story, like it was dug up on Normandy Beach. You just have to get creative.
