Anyone who knows me knows that I love all things 27. I have an RM, a couple of pre-model 357s from the early to mid 1950s, a 27 and several 27-2s. Oh, throw in a first year Highway Patrolman as an associated piece. Still kicking myself for passing on the 3.5" 27-1 I saw in a pawn shop. None are collector guns and this does not constitute a collection by any means. I bought them to shoot which I do regularly.
My ode to the Model 27...
A 5" nickel 27 found in a Seattle pawnshop for $295. Hadn't gone far in almost five decades as it shipped to Tacoma.
A 27-2 c. 1968. A forum member contacted me when he saw it in a local gun shop priced at $375. I called and bought it unseen. No regrets.
Found in local gun shop for $350. Appeared unfired. A 27-2 c. 1973. I like the smooth trigger. When someone says the finish on 1970s S&Ws isn't very good I break this one out. Came in the wooden box.
When I had an FFL in 1989 I got an ad from a distributor offering Florida Highway Patrol 27-2s for $215. All 5" in nickel, I ordered one and received a new, unused revolver. One of 500 shipped in 1977.
Looked for a long 27 in nickel for a while and finally bagged this one on Gunbroker for $321. New in box (wooden case) with all documents, etc.
Post up your 27s.
