Tired of the "Zombie Apocalypse" marketing?

We've had Zombie movies for decades...... now the Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead TV shows..............

Great line from my son as we watched the 2nd or 3rd episode of Fear the Walking Dead.

"How can these people not know what's happening and how to kill them...... didn't any of them ever watch the movie "Night of the Living Dead?"

Nope! Because in that world Night of the Living Dead didn't exist

I didn't believe in Zombies until my neighbor and I ( after a few JDs and Coke) chased one out of our garden last spring. Sneaky devil; haven't seem it since but it still eats our tomatoes late at night :( But the whole shooting/marketing thing is pretty stupid :)

Why yes, yes I am. But on the other hand what would the "Gun Shop Commandos" and "Mall Ninjas" buy?

I like the show Walking Dead.

Not a fan of anything else to do with zombies, especially in real world applications (knives, shotguns, machetes, bug out gear, video reviews, etc...)

It's fiction not fact.

I don't rightly know if the dead walk. But today is election day in Memphis and I know for a fact that a bunch of 'em will vote.

Spend some time around blackheads, dangerous mental detectives, and the like. Other than you do not absolutely have to go for the head shot, it is not all that different from the world of Walking Dead.

I HATE dangerous mental detectives!!!:D:D:D

SEASON SIX!!!

Yea, I like the Walking Dead...:p

But I can't say I am moved to buy into zombie products. Maybe they get a smile but no money. To each his own though.

I'm not sure that it has quite reached apocalyptic levels yet, but there are countless zombies walking, driving, texting - thousands at a time - on any given day.
Just look around, you'll see 'em. :D
I guess zombies are real after all.

I never did "get" the fascination with the walking dead, zombie craze in the first place. Seems stupid to me. Dead is dead and it isn't a reversible or curable condition.

I got tired of seeing/hearing references to it right out of the gate. And you can't watch anything on TV - even the movie channels - without seeing & hearing commercials for it, any more than you can pick up any kind of magazine without seeing zombie "products".

All I can add is that with Halloween coming up I believe a few zombies might come down the driveway along with the werewolves, witches and pirates.

Just consider what will happen when the Gov't. goes broke and all of the entitlement checks dry-up. Then count the number of zombies in the streets!

Zombies were, and still are, cool in classic horror films, and even in B movies of the thirties and forties. Ditto for the horror/thriller/supernatural pulp magazines of decades ago.

But now? Zombie this. Zombie that. Advertisers, TV networks, Hollywood, Manufacturers of just about everything...all of them are milking the zombie theme for all they can get out of it. There's nothing about zombies to scare anyone now, not even little kids. The sense of wonder is gone.

Sick of it? I was sick of it years ago.

Just zombie till you puke.

I can tell you that as long as The Walking Dead is as popular as it is, it's not going anywhere, the marketing will stay string. One thing I didn't care for was some of the gun companies overdoing it. Personally I think some of it is more of a liability especially if you have a decked out zombie gun for personal defense in a real situation.
Why I think this current zombie craze is so popular is that it deals with the zombies as a backdrop, the Walking Dead is more about how the humans react with each other when it all goes wrong and its very telling. It's no secret that George Romero, who created the whole zombie movie craze in the late 60's with Night of the Living Dead, HATES The Walking Dead, and the guy who created The Walking Dead dislikes Romero's films. The way The Walking Dead works is that you could for the most part substitute the zombies for some other natural disaster or societal upheaval and much is the same, you would have people wary of others, banding together in groups and fearful of each other. I think that is why it is so popular, not just because you have smelly corpses traveling vertically throughout the show.
