So I paid a co-worker to swap out my stock M&P 9 trigger with an Apex trigger. He shows up a couple days later with a box of parts, turns out the "plug" filling the slot where a manual safety would be came loose and he tried supergluing it in place. Long story short, he tried using a Dremel to remove excess glue and ended up removing part of the right side groove retaining the sear. I reassembled it myself and was able to seat the sear before sending it to S&W. They signed off on a functional check and returned it.
My problem is, do I ever trust firing it again...It's been checked out by S&W, but it's like there's a cloud hanging over it now. It makes me sick to see it just sitting there and while I'm not crazy about parting it out, it seems better than just letting it sit in the gun safe. My "gunsmith" coughed up the cost of a replacement, got a 2.0, but I was really kind of attached to my Gen1.
Basically I refuse to sell it, don't want to be party to someone possibly getting injured, so it's either leave it to sit, or sell off the barrel & slide so at least they get used.
While I look at it as "constructive paranoia", just curious what anyone else thinks.
