Trigger jammed 66-1

1. Check ejector rod (tightening): which you did
2. Check Star (both around and under it) for crud build up
3. Check for bent ejector rod
4. Check for forward/back excessive cylinder movement
5. Check front of cylinder and barrel for any excessive lead build up.
6. Spray out internals with some solvent/oil
7. Last desperate attempt would be to push both the hammer and rebound slide closer to the frame.

*You could remove the side plate and post some pics or do a video and post then give us the link and we could maybe help out some more

After these, I'm afraid that, its something mechanical (spring, hammer bind, hand bind or something else mechanical that would involve a disassembly and inspection.

Thank You to all who have shown interest. I beleive that the owner will send it to Springfield. They will fix it but will they reveal the exact cause of the malfunction. Other than an invoice of parts replaced
I am anxious to know and will share any information that they provide. Again, thanks to all for their suggestions and knowledge.

Doubtful the factory will be very candid with the exact repair because they just don't have the time - IF they have the parts since your gun is older and not under warranty, you will get a hint with description of parts replaced but be prepared for a repair to be refused and you will have to pay to get it back. With a gun of that age, you may consider sending it to a recommended gunsmith instead of the factory.

That is enlightening. Something We never thought of. We will see what happens next. He has the shipping lable. I appreciate Your post.

Ken158 is correct. They will fix it, if they have the parts, but for many old S&W firearms, the supply of spare parts has been exhausted. If they do fix it, they probably are not going to say what was fixed.

It left for Springfield on Saturday afternoon. I will get back here when there is more information to share. Thanks to All.
