It would seem that this incident could have had various outcomes, depending upon in what state it occured. (Among other variables)
 
On an earlier related thread it was stated that it was illegal to carry guns in trucks. Is that a law or simply some tuck companies policy?
 
I don't know about other states, but in Michigan if you have a CCW, carry is permitted. The are some of the parcel carriers whom where required to some years ago. Still??? Don't know.

There is no federal law against weapons in a commercial vehicle. State and local laws permitting, I'm usually armed, and have never had a problem with it. I've even been into military installations, but there you have to leave your weapon at the guard shack.
 
It is a damn shame that the news media doesn't put the two stories side by side and enlighten the public about the benefits of being armed.
