Ugh....Just got back from Emergency Room minus 3/4" of index finger....

Hope it heals soon, going to the ER for any reason is the pits.

Geez, shoo, that is rough stuff. Tried something like that back when
I had a four-speed, and was GLAD it was my left hand. Don't bother
with the pics on my account, my memories are still vivid after 40 years!

Guess you'll be Commander Shoo from now on! Get better quick!

Sorry to hear you are abusing yourself at work. I'm lucky to have all my digits as they were given. Good luck and cheers to a speedy recovery........oh, and I love my midnight hammer!!!!! Every time I get it out, someone "needs" to use it all of the sudden-like.......Take care.........Sprefix

I am sorry you took a painful injury.

I took off my most right thumb in 76. Tended to make me more careful.

When it starts to feel mostly better, keep a cushion on it for a while.

My Best to you.

John

I hope you feel better real soon. Stay away from the tools while your on pain meds. We don't want to hear any more of these stories.

Thanks again guys and girls ! It was a rough night. Went to bed about 10:30, fell asleep around midnite, up this morning at 4. The Percoset(?) is barely taking the edge off of my pain. I think I got up to pee at least 8-10 times and twice for pain meds. At times it feels like someone is peeling back my no longer there fingernail, and then sticking a hot poker into my wound. I hate bein' a wussy, but this does hurt. Later I have to watch the Buffalo Bills get their butts whooped and that's just gonna make my day suck even more. Oh well. Anyone want to come over my house and finish up the Shoo Hammer orders I need to ship ??? Shoo

Count me among the ones who cringe in sympathy. I am sure the pain is pretty bad and I hope you are a quick healer.

Shoo, it's been a heck of a long time since I ran a lathe or mill, but with some coaching I might could remember how...

Hope you heal up quickly Shoo! I have treated thousands of injuries, but there is just something about fingers that makes me cringe. I hope you are able to handle the pain sufficiently, and are able to continue your fine work despite this injury. Sorry this happened man!

That Hurts. I hope that you get well soon.

My joungest son is missing a part of his finger. His older brother wouldend let him in his room and slamed the door at him.
He was just 2 years old. Since then we named him Tiny Tim. He now 16 and very much bigger than me.

Tiny Shoo? No. That dousnt sound right.

An old guy that I used to work with told me that when you hurt your finger you should go stick it in cider and that will make it feel better!:)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Shoo!

Hey, Shoo - Man, I'm sorry about our mishap. When it comes to pain. I'm a "sissy", can't stand it; I hope the pain subsides soon. Take care my friend.

Pete

Well, Shoo got a booboo today. Somehow managed to get my left index finger between a razor-sharp 1" endmill and a workpiece. The endmill won.
I coulda told you that.
You shoulda asked me!
:D

Hate to hear that, bud.
If it throbs severely, whack your pinky nail with a shoohammer, and that'll take your mind off it. ;)

There are three stages in the life of a machinist, woodworker, or farmer.
Too stupid, too tired, and too old.
Hope you have a good recovery. Just remember not to "show" anyone exactly how it happened.

Dang (insert creative spelling here) I hope you get better soon.
I have had a huge fear of loosing a digit since I started playing guitar as a kid.I have a friend that lost his (same one) as a youngster,He plays some pretty good slide blues and still uses the other two somewhat to get notes and mute strings.
I'd be tempted to drink something strong, but don't take the chance of that messing with your meds.

saw a youtube vid long ago (cant find it now) of this guy you lost his hand in a farming accident.
you would not believe what the dude could do with a stump where his right hand used to be ... artificial harmonics ... no problem!!!
since I lean into classical form I have NO idea how I'd adapt if I lost a finger, let alone a hand. But I guess its possible despite not knowing how.
