Has anyone here used NevrDull to clean nickel prior to polishing with Flitz?

It is a mild abrasive and personally I would not use it. Nickel is not all that hard a plating and scratches somewhat easily.

The ONLY thing I've ever done, and I'd only do it once is to gently polish a beat up Nickel gun with Flitz and a brand new Microfiber cloth. If done gently and only one time it will improve the finish and won't be too detrimental. I would avoid trying to do it multiple times as even Flitz, which I regard as the best of the best, IS still a mild abrasive.

Flitz

I haven't touched Never Dull in 62 years. I used Never Dull when I was on KP during basic. Got stuck on the Clipper and I had to polish the whole d--- thing after every meal. To answer the question is I don't use anything but the Flitz. I use it sparingly, once the nickel is gone it is gone.

Hi, I went to their website and it states it is safe for nickel but didn't specify the metal or plating. I would cautiously try it on a hidden surface (a small spot under the stocks?) and see what happens.

Never-dull.......used it on a little holster wear on the barrel of a 6 inch 22 Diamondback, started to look goldish where I rubbed ...........sent back to Colt for re-nickel took 6 months and some $$$

It works great on aluminum and I’ve used it on chrome with good results. Not sure of the “hardness” difference between nickel and chrome. As in Harley Davidson chrome.

I use toothpaste to polish Nickel plated telegraph keys with good results.
Chrome is very much harder than Nickel.
And, no need to pre clean the metal before using Flitz, unless it's got something "gooey" on it. Then, I would use a solvent like alcohol.

In my own personal experience, Flitz seems more abrasive than NeverDull. This is based on my own experiences of course. Using "light pressure" is the way to go with both polishes. A heavy hand will remove bluing from a gun with either one. No need to ask how I know. Lesson learned.
