Updated to included the letter I recieved form S&W. Interesting information but no specifics as to if Venezuela didn't fulfill their payment obligation, the US blocked shipment, or hard and fast exact numbers producted for Venezuela.

Fun to know the history anyhow.

The next one I pulled off proves that even a blind dog can find the occasional bone. Found this locally for $325. I was moderately interested but when I saw the markings I thought I’d grab it because I like Police marked pistols. It wasn’t until later that I discovered this was a former Venezuelan Cuerpo Tecnico de Polici'a Judicial pistol. It also has the crest of the county of Venezuela on the slide and is marked C.T.P.J. on the frame. Apparently, this is unusual. Can anyone give me an idea as to how many of these were manufactured, and the value? I’m probably going to get a letter on this one. Any info anyone can provide is much appreciated.

Here is as good a photo of the slide and frame markings I could muster.

Thanks for an information anyone can provide on the 469.

Very nice CTPJ 469! They are known to exist but very little is known about them.

I for one would really like to hear what you are able to find out about yours.

Got my letter in April this year, no production numbers though. Mine was made in 1990. Does yours have import marks ?

Maggie, no import marks which surprised me, does yours?

JimmyJ, the letters appear stamped, I'm guessing the crest is too, but I really don't know.

My numbers look like most Smith auto numbers, the Crest however looks etched-like. Does no import mark mean it never left the US ? I have no marks either.

Where does your letter say it went, maggie?

I think... (can't remember where I heard or read so...)
that these were made for Venezuela but then something happened between Venezuela and the US and either the order was cancelled or never received so they were all sold in the US as 469s. So, since they weren't accounted for separately, actual numbers are almost impossible to know.

They called it a contract overrun. Mine was imported to Lodi, Ohio , LOL

Mine was about 4 or 5 weeks. Hope you get production numbers.
Page 291 of SCS&W said very rare.

Prof. Frink you should have some snail mail any day now.

Thanks Prof., at least we know there were two made, and where the are now !

I've got one too. It's currently sitting at my dealer's, but I didn't notice any import marks on it when I looked it over.

greetings,

I was born in Venezuela and I would LOVE to own one of these. Any info on how to get it would be deeply appreciated. Any info through here or [email protected]
(one with venezuelan marking that is)
