Looking to finally upgrade the grips on my 340PD. I only carry/shoot .38 Specials out of it, and am absolutely in love with the Black Cherry grips VZgrips has out.... anyone had a bad experience?

VZ grips for J-frames are ideal....no bad experiences whatsoever. I use them on my 649-2 backup in a Kramer ankle holster. I originally bought smooth all black ones, but just got the brown version with checkering. I like the checkering a lot and would recommend those over smooth. They fit perfect and are very strong. I can't recommend them enough.

Thanks all, leiden they really look good! I'm Hoping the black cherry does not clash with my current carry setup....

but if it does... I guess I could always switch up the colors lol.

I'm more or less looking for something that will absorb the recoil and look good. .357 in that little beast is ungodly, and I Can't talk myself into crimson traces.

What brand holster and speed loader pouch is that?

I bought a pair of black ones, but never fired a gun that had them on. They were too uncomfortable and slippery.

When I bought my pair they were not offering checking.

The bottom part of the front strap comes to a somewhat sharp edge.

The G10 material is heavy. The grips weigh in at 2.8 ounces.

I'm going to be interested to see how they perform... read alot about them, it seems that the smooth ones are a handfull to control and have some ouch factor going on.

I think the older Uncle Mikes Spegel copy rubber grips may be the greatest J frame grips ever made as far as function. But I also think that pretty much anything in wood looks better.
