We had the two grandsons on Saturday and I was planning on calling my Doctor friend to head out to a local gun show. For some reason my left side and back started to bother me with pain. This is the area of all my recent surgery and now my ongoing Mensa / bone infection. Now by 6pm the pain is becoming intolerable and I don't have a clue? One thing I know is this deals all with the Mersa and my ribsI had pain to a level I never felt before!
Instructed the Mrs to phone 911 and the ambulance is on the way. Now of course by now my color is ashen, breathing is hard so the boys are treating me as a heart attack, sorry fellows the blood pump is working fine but hey they are the Perimedics. Get to the hospital and I'm met by the crash crowd . Start taking my clothes off, running monitors drawing blood and finally it was found out the guy ain't having a heart attack. Now they listen to my story, give me a shot of morphine for pain and send me for some exrays and a cat scan. After that Im sent to my room. The morphine took most of the sin away but put me to sleep.
Slept good the rest of the night.
Sunday morning lots of pain don't know which way to turn, lay sit or stand. Could not even stand to go the bathroom. All my doctors are looking at blood tests, exrays and such but no one is working on pain mediation. My only respite has been morphine every 4 hours.
So this morning I can't move or get out of bed, can't sit up to eat breakfast , terrible pain still continues. My new day nurse comes in and we start talking about this, what I had been taking at home and what was I doing.
So it turns out she talks to a doctor gets me a prescription for Percocet with a little higher dosage and now the big item....she gets me a heating pad!
Yep increased perco dosage and a heating pad and the pain has subsided,! :D
Now I still have some and I'm not going dancing anytime soon.
But out of all the people working my case the good old floor nurse solved me pain problem.
Now the cause, they have found that I have a collapsed disc / vertebrae, Don't know how I got it but that theroblem, maybe? Since my Mensa numbers went up it could be the infection? So the MRI of tonight should determmine the culprit tomorrow and then I can go home! :D
But to think, All I wanted to do was to go to a gun show! :D

Not sure this will help but I fought the pain of a herniated disc for 6 plus months. Tried Percocet which made pain tolerable but of course no cure. Tried an epidural that helped for a short time. Bit the bullet and had surgery. Best decision I ever made. Other than not being able to lift anything for a while, I was up and walking an hour after returning to my room and have been pain free ever since. At least in my back! Only regret I have was putting off the surgery as long as I did.

EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN, EVENTUALLY.

My last & only major inpatient hospital stay (7 days) on the other side of the bedpan for a change, a simple ice pack gave me the best relief. Don't get me wrong the dilaudid helped, mostly with the boredom as I slept a lot after getting it. My wife claims I was not so nice while on it, but it's funny I can't remember that part. ;) BTW the acronym you are butchering is MRSA, I believe. :D Feel better.
