I don't usually post this whiney stuff, but I am about as disgusted as I intend to be. We purchased a Westinghouse LCD television in 2006. It went bad within the first 30 days and was replaced by the store. 18 months later it went bad again and Westinghouse admitted that it was defective and replaced it. All I had to do was pay the return shipping of $57. The replacement has lasted 8 months and now Westinghouse basically said "tough". They informed me that LCD TV's were built to last 4 to 5 years, which is BS. Never buy a Westinghouse electronic product if you expect good customer service. I never will. The store has dropped them and I was told of the 700 sold, 400 came back. Everyone can put out a bad product now and then, but they should make it good.............I feel better now!

I guess what really gets me is the money I paid for the POS could have bought me a couple nice Smiths!!!!

Should you have the time and inclination, I would suggest making yourself heard at the highest levels of Westinghouse and the retail store.

I bought an Insignia (BestBuy house brand) 32" LCD when wife and I moved in to our current apartment. It has been nearly perfect. The only thing it doesn't seem to like is being turned on before other electronics - it doesn't find signals right.

The Philips surround sound has been an entirely different ball of wax, and while they replaced it under warranty, I doubt I'll buy another Philips system.

I will probably get a Vizio. I've heard that, although Wal Mart is the only retailer, these tv's are truly an American made product. Try that with any other brand.

I have had, since almost day one, problems with my Westinghouse LCD. Damn thing will work for a while and then just hangs up and quits. You cannot turn it off, change channels, turn up or down the volume. Nothing works. Only cure is to unplug it, let it sit for a few minutes and start over.

I, too, will never purchase a Westinghouse product again.

That's why I ain't buying any of that new fangled stuff until they work out the kinks.
I've pretty much decided to go with VHS over Beta and will probably take the plunge next week..

They are not made by Westinghouse--somebody overseas just leases the name.

Also check the box on the Vizio I believe they are from Korea not USA. Chineese set up a small town called USA and they mark products made in USA.
Real smartasses!!!!!

We moved up to the big time about 25 years ago with a made in the USA 27 inch color RCA. It still works so why buy another?

We had a couple of friends tell us we need to get a big screen. We tell them we did 25 years ago. Our old TV was a 10" or 12".

Same here, Mike, only my tvs aren't quite as old. Since we have cable, no need to change anything, so why bother?
