What are the odds of confiscation?

Indeed....

The only way to win is to rekindle why Americans have a Second Ammendment. You also need to promote all incidents where a civilian uses their gun to defend their family or thwart a crime in public. You have to win the hearts and minds of the majority of Americans that do not own guns. Only then will you have a chance of preserving the freedoms that you so hard fought for on the battlefields.

Well Said Sir!

Thanks!

Drew

They'll have a choice whether they want to defend the Constitution or trample on it. I hope they make the right one, because those that go out confiscating guns will have a high percentage of not coming home that night.

You must be kidding. Hitler's enforcers had small machine guns everywhere they went. They did very well. They could have done better with modern heat cameras and night vision. For most houses the heat sensors can see you sitting on the toilet. See you sleeping wherever. Hiding your guns wherever.
Meanwhile you do not know which politicians are getting campaign money from communist countries, or the local mob.

I think most of us are law abiding and are used to walking a line following directions and removing shoes and being frisked without much resistance.Deciding to violently resist confiscation crosses a line quite difficult for most. There is no turning back from that point. Our forefathers did it.Do we still have that much grit?
I just finished "In the Garden of Beasts" which is an easy to read history of the rise of Hitler in the 1930's and his seizure of power was not resisted until too late.Started early with "reasonable gun laws".He could not have achieved this with out the fear of the citizens due to beatings and threats from his Brown Shirt thugs.Remember when our President wanted to form a "domestic security force to match the military"?Remember when the New Black Panthers with clubs intimidated voters and no investigation by the AG Eric Holder?Think union thugs,AIG,Acorn
and other radicals.
Stay alert, these are serious times for freedom.

And the New Black Panthers were in the street with bullhorns announcing a reward for Zimmerman. Later they changed their wording to raising money for a reward (or whatever language).
Hitler would be proud of them.

I could see a future situation of going to a store to buy ammo............"May I help you"? "Yes, I need 100 rounds of .38 +P please" "Sure, I just need some ID and run a quick check"............"Sorry sir, looks like you have already purchased 50 rounds of ammunition in the past 6 months, you can only legally purchase 100 rounds in a calendar year. It's the law now". "Also, that ammunition becomes ineffective after one year so any cartridges you buy will not fire, the powder goes bad and the ammo is useless"

They could try. Actually I am the only person that I know who has experimented with loading a 38 special shell with chopped up match heads. I also read about the conquistadors only able to continue the conquest of the Inca's by finding ingredients for black powder locally. It involved climbing down into an old volcano at one point. In the book "the history of coshocton county" they found ingredients for black powder locally, which helped in the revolutionary war. Now any kid with a science kit can do similar things no doubt.

Yeah, unless you live in a big city, I doubt you're gonna see too many of your local police officers and sheriffs kickin' in doors to steal your guns. It will be handled by the ATF (excuse me, the "BATFE", or whatever they like to call themselves now), the FBI, Homeland Security, the military, or some other arm of the central government.

My knowledge of the law may be limited, but I thought they couldn't use the Military to disarm civilians.
Even if they tried, most certainly would disobey orders, and not comply. The result would be chaos.

For those of you who think ex post facto will save your rifles, you either do not understand the liberal mentality or believe the Constitution means something to them as it does to you. As long as this country elects the left, the chances of confiscation riseas each day passes. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but it is coming. A good friend of mine who is in the Airfirce participated in an "ethics" seminar as part of his training, and he as well as others were asked what they would do if ordered to go house to house and comfiscate guns in this country. Don't think the military would do this, I suggest you look no further than New Orleans after Katrina. They did and it is well documented. The New Orleans police chief was and is on video saying only law enforcement would be armed in the aftermath. It is not paranoia, it is a remains a serious threat. If you do not believe the military will fire on civilians, look no further than kent state university. This incident gave rise to the Crosby, Stills, Nash song that echoed " four dead in Ohio. Not the first time our military has fired on civilians and probably not the last either.

Five National Guard members shot in a Carson City restaurant. Three died. Not likely anyone will write a song for them.

Gun control is like womens lib

It wouldn't happen outright. I would argue it will bea gradualist approach beginning with restrictions. Then later the government will promote a National Registration. Once that happens the federal government would have a complete accounting of all firearms. There would be a period in which the government lay idle. Then, God Forbid, a national tragedy.

Then confiscation. Just like Germany.

Back in the 1970's women's lib was in full swing. A friend on mine had brought a wife back from germany after WWII. He said his wife was really irritated - she said women in this country were being industrialized and losing their right to raise their children. She watched it happen in Europe.
Yes we can assume the anti-gun people are constantly studying Europe for methodology.

I have all the respect in the world for peace officers, but when one shows up at my house to confiscate my firearms, he'll be the enemy. I hope it never comes to that, because on that day there will be a second civil war in this country.
My thoughts exackly...they can not take what we will not give...I will not surrender my freedom to anyone.

What a delima... I want to be a law abiding American. But what do you do when those in authority do not repect the law. I am a retired Elementary principal. My question is... these shooters for the most part have been young men with issues or emotional disorders. Why has the government not done more about mental illness?

God I love Vermont more every day. Not only does our constitution allow for gun possession, it denies any town, city or municipality from passing any (gun) laws that would circumvent that amendment. And our governor, a Democrat, is pro 2nd A. It just doesn't get any better.

but it is off the street and hidden,
that is mission accomplished - for most.
this is what most LE want.
politicans want removal - so politicans can have no impediments to their being rulers.
even Boner caved - dispicable(sp).

off the street? *** are you talking about? Sounds like you have been brainwashed.

I have never seen any of my guns laying in the street.

I don't know how I missed this before,

But it bears repeating.

The biggest threat posed is the licensing of gun owners. Once that is put in place the rest is moot. As a veteran of the war on gun control I can tell you that the most dangerous time is at the beginning of the move. You need to be well organized and ensure the NRA is well financed to execute whatever plan they think best serves the interest of American gun owners and the 2A.

Politicans will be reluctant to get on board and support gun control if they think they will lose their district or senate seat. But if they smell blood in the water, they will be quick to jump on board.

This will be a fight like no other political fight. The pro-gun control side will say the pro-gun lobby has to compromise, but they themselves will never concede anything.

In Canada we thought there could be a reasoned debate-that rational people only concerned with the improved safety for society could come together and work out something that could be agreed to by all. While pro gun advocates thought we were being reasonable we were continuously villified in the media. So be prepared... there is no compromise. Once you do, you are lost.
