What brands do you associate with junk?

REGARDING GUNS?

If we go on about ANY junk we could be here a long time. I thought we weren't supposed to be allowed to brand bash, so I'll not name names. Most if not ALL brands make their bargain basement special, cutting any and all corners to save a penny & pass the savings on to us. The practice may have actually kept many companies from going belly up. Personally I can't see buying a gun advertised as their "LEAST EXPENSIVE", translated as worst quality in our line, WANNA BUY ONE?

Been driving up through N NM thinking about this. Am at Mickie D in Cuba, NM. You might remember I told the story about the dude who was absolutely sure there was a Walker Colt here.
But- junk guns? If they are made anywhere where you would not drink the water, they are junk. Competent people install a safe water system before they made things, including guns.

Microsoft is another one for me. If they put it out, I assume it is a clunky, second-rate knockoff of a more popular product already available.

I agree with McDonalds. One fast food place I never go, for sure.

Craftsman. And let me preface that by saying newer Craftsman. Their red colored push mowers with the Briggs & Stratton engines on them made since about 2005 are, IMO, junk. Engine burns oil in spite of proper service, crappy fuel lines that keep having to be replaced, and bolts that kept shearing out of the rear frame until the damn frame split on me! Not built like the old gray craftsman stuff in the 90s, which long outlived its newer red bretheren.

maytag appliances. i grew up hearing how great they were . how people had their washer/dryer 25 yrs etc. eight years ago when we built our house i bought all new maytag stuff, thinking to "spend the good money" -buy something of high quality and be done.
it hasnt worked that way..every single appliance has been worked on MORE THAN ONCE! its maddening.
the maytag microwave has had the circuit panel fry three different times.when it works it takes 2 1/2 minutes to warm a cold cup of coffee. ive had $69 no name counter top model that would boil a cup of coffee in a minute!
front loading neptune washer has broken at least three times, once was my fault because i has some 3" spikes in my pants pocket. oops. but i have to wonder why something as big as a spike will fit through the drain.
i could go on but ,but im bored and im sure no one really cares :)

OK, I thought we were not supposed to bash/trash talk guns on the forum or did I get that rule wrong?
But, as far as cars go I would never, ever, not in a hundred years, not even for free, own a Chrysler product.

For other than Gun products--anything by samsung, kia, and gun products--mendoza and norinco.

I'm humored and confused about some of the posts bashing McD's, Carls' Jr, TacoBell etc. Is there some "better" fast food place that sells non-nutritious, extreme high fat content junk food?

Junk food is junk food in my book (and in my veins, my GI tract, my waistline).

All these new trucks with the sealed bearings in the front ends scare me

I was repackaging my tapered bearings in my 4x4 front ends once a year.
I hand manual locking front hubs I knew when the axle was engaged. I never had a hub fail to engage. With these modern vaccumne switches we have to be lucky if they engage when needed. What a joke the new 4x4 trucks really are.

35 years ago I viewed Harley as a company who couldn't even figure out how to put two engine cases together without leaking oil. Today I think they make top shelf bikes.

What a lot of our "new" Harley riders fail to realize is that the Evo motor was actually developed by the hated & despised AMF.

Yes. Top shelf motors but the "new" Harley riders manage to bolt & glue enough aftermarket billet accessories to 'em that eventually they CAN be made t leak oil.

We'll leave the plethora of "global market" OEM parts and the .gov bailout for another thread. ;)

They don't make things like they used to, no matter what brand. Things aren't made for longevity but for disposal. It's all about making money.........

Hate to break the sad but true to some of you folks but ALL (yes, all) companies crank out lemons (some more than others).

I've owned piss poor Danner boots ($300+) that lasted 6 months and a a Taurus 85 snub (circa 1988) with 2,000+ rounds through it and still tighter than any J-frame I own.

What does this prove? Nothing; just like 99% of the replies to this thread.

Wal-Mart=****
Made in China=**** (except my SKS, which is a great rifle)
Taurus=never owned one but they have lifetime warranties that are transferable.
Generally speaking, no matter the brand, you'll always find a lemon somewhere in the pile.
Conversely, every "cheap" Emerson or Magnavox TV I've ever owned has never failed. I have a 19-inch Mag in my man cave that's 14 years old and I've never had to adjust it for anything. Still works great.

As long as we're talking about anything, then Pocket Hose. I bought two of them last summer at Home Depot. Both literally exploded after about five or six uses.

Thanks, I've considered that purchase.

But then I hear they use recycled python innards from ones shot in the Florida everglades.

Kia's must suck. Why else would they offer the best warranties in the business? 5 years/60,000 bumper to bumper and 10 years/100,000 on the powertrain.

Wait. That made no sense. Maybe they are pretty good. :)
