What did he say? What did he do?

I watched the whole thing. Were is anything about the ban on assault weapons and high cap Mags in the final orders?? I do not see any??
He spoke about them??

These executive orders are laying the ground work for a national registry. Look again. Look closely at what is written. Why are all these "health" issues included in these orders? Why did he need to clarify what doctors can ask (see#16)?

I'm extremely unhappy with this. He needs to be removed. To think that he can use an executive order to dictate what citizens of the US can or cannot do is far beyond the authority of the president.

I agree completely, he needs to be removed. Now about no. 16. If we are required to answer something like that whats to keep you from saying you don't believe in guns, period. Instead of saying 'none of your business' just tell them what they want to hear and move on. Don't help them.

My kids played it for awhile. My son works in fracking now and makes more than I do.His little sister,an absolute fiend at the game,is just finishing her degree and doing her internship at Escada. It ain't just the games.

Regarding #16 it does not say we are required to answer or even that the Dr is required to ask. Just says Doctors are not prohibited from asking!

Anyone else think it looks fishy what just happened?

well Im still reading between the lines of what was iterated against what the iterations could and likely do mean.
CDC to research the cause of gun violence seems to be a common one for red flags as does a doctors ability to ask about guns in the home.
it seems to indicate that his intentions are to use the healthcare system against us somehow.

Well now doctors will be able to ask ?s As far as I remember we also have the rights under the 1st and 5th amendment?

also said ?s Have you taken an oath to answer these ?s truthfully?

Have multiple amendments to the constitution been violated?

coverage under the 14th also? and the incorporate doctrine?

Keep writing those elected officials!

What! It isn't the game(s)? I find that so hard to believe. It couldn't possibly be PARENTING could it....nah. That is too hard to contemplate so the easy thing to do is blame the movies, blame the games, blame the guns, blame everything and everybody except the parent(s).

I'm a single dad and raised 3 good kids with solid heads on their respective shoulders. The older two played video games and we all watched "action" flicks together and had a great time. What I didn't do was let the kids sit in their rooms in front of either the computer or TV and vegetate. Hell, I even turned off the internet one summer and believe it or not was thanked later by my youngest.

Parenting and support for parents is the harder part of the puzzle. If parents are going through hard times and suffer the indignancy of having to take Government hand-outs and have no opportunities to make their own living because all the businesses are either 28 hour jobs (to avoid the...cough cough....sputter...Affordable Health Care "tax") or are not hiring due to the crushing taxes and muddy future. When success becomes a bad thing and just having a pulse is a condition for a "living wage" all of these factors make setting an example nearly impossible. Self esteem drops and parenting suffers.

I know I strayed off the topic a bit but please indulge just this once. There is all this attention on the tools of the crime but no attention on the root of the crime.

I read the golden list of 23 items today without reading any other news about them. I honestly don't have an issue with any one of them individually or collectively. I am quite surprised that most of them require an EO to do since I would have thought they were already being done.

I am nervoulsy checking my six oclock because what I didn't read was anything about an EO for banning of anything. I did read about a challenge to our legistlators to get something done and that is as it should be.

Now the battle is starting to shape up and what was done today could be a cover or diversion so we need to keep the scouts deployed, stand a good watch and keep our voices heard.

That is just my thoughts today, sorry if I strayed a bit for the 2A forum....

And then there are the kids who are obviously off balance, but a number of them seem to just fall through the cracks.I've known several, and they all died young.

For those who don't understand why #16 "Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes," was included...

It is most likely in response to the NRA backed caveat included in the Obamacare bill:

"No individual shall be required to disclose any information under any data collection activity authorized under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act or an amendment made by that Act relating to--
(A) the lawful ownership or possession of a firearm or ammunition; or
(B) the lawful use, possession, or storage of a firearm or ammunition."

Under OCare, health records form the basis of a National database with everything about you nicely presented for abuse.

I would like to see the violent video game issue addressed. Have you ever seen Grand Theft Auto? Take a kid with no social skills and park him in front of a video game like that for a couple years and when he finally realizes he's a loser look out. That to me is a bigger problem than an extra couple rounds in a magazine.

That's easy, address it! This is a parenting issue, plain and simple. I never dared to do something that was on the other side of "the line" that my father drew in the sand. That's because it was drawn in a reasonable place, I understood it was a line not to be crossed, and I never wanted to know the consequences first hand. Also because I was free to ask about moving the line, which many times happened once I proved I was "worthy".

Parenting, not Presidential Executive Orders. VERY simple.

After Cuomo just passed the STRICTIST assault weapon ban ever and after BO spoke wonder if the states are going to follow in NY's footsteps?

Or is Cuomo playing "Future Mr. President"?

22. "Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations."

The fears that the president would abuse his executive powers to bypass congress were highly exaggerated. Instead, he seems to have implemented some fundamental things that are reasonable in my view. will they work? Who knows but he is passing the buck to the legislative branches, your Congressmen and Senators, to ban magazines, assault weapons, etc. I think this is fair as they represent our direct voices in government.

He successfully diverted national attention for another few weeks from the economy. I layed the foundation for a National database via OCare and he made it quite clear that he'll be lowering the bar in the near future to prevent anyone who ever told their doctor they may have been depressed (after a close death or something) from ever owning a gun. He also made it LESS likely that a disturbed person will be open and honest when dealing with their health care provider.

Make no mistake, this man is as calculating as they come and underestimate him at your own peril.

END RANT :)
