put the 337 in a galco combat master, the 442 in a front pocket horsehide by galco, and felt warm and cozy knowing they were there... i did look lovingly at my 686+ when i went to the safe to get my reloads.

Dan, What bullet/powder combo you using for "plinker" loads??

I thoroughly cleaned my recently purchased 5906, repaired the follower in one of the mags untill I can find a new one in stock. And set up a buy for 3 15rd mags from a member. As soon as the mail man drops off the mags I will be headed to the range for some real fun

Today, I took some Scotch-Brite to my 3" 65-5! Before anyone freaks out, let me explain...
This gun is a bit of a mystery to me. At first glance, it looks like a LadySmith, without the bead-blasted finish. But I suspect the gun started life as a normal 65-5 and had a barrel replacement at one time (maybe due to cracked forcing cone - just a guess). The barrel, while of the same style as a LadySmith, is unlike any that I have seen, with it's LARGE roll-marked font. I bought the gun used, and the previous owner didn't know it's history.
Anyway, the gun came to me with a polished finish and I wanted to make it look like more of a factory brushed finish. I first used green Scotch-Brite pads to add fine scratches (and dull the finish), then went over it with white Scotch-Brite pads, which created more of a factory S&W finish. It came out really good, if I do say so myself. I used my 3" 66-2 as a template, to guide me in achieving the correct finish.

I've got some 370 grain cast bullets from CPBC. For light loads I use 10 to 12 grains of Unique. 10 grains of Unique with that particular bullet feels recoil wise like shooting 38 Spcl wadcutters in an N frame 357. Real powder puffs! 12 grains is a tad warmer, but still pleasant enough to shoot all day. You can also use Win 231 with those same charge weights and yield very similar results.
I've had a long day... led two worship services in the morning and another one this afternoon. Got home and did some office work. Now... I'm watching The Addams Family and dry-firing my beloved four inch 28-2. Tomorrow is my off day. Hopefully there will be time enough for me to go to the range and enjoy shooting my 18-3. We'll see.
