MONTANA, My only wish is that we had better vetting on who we let in.
Lots of wild places (some of them in towns)
Mostly small towns with friendly easy going people.
Fishin, huntin, campin. I can get a deer A tag + multiple B tags, a elk A+B tag, wolf tags and a bear tag with no drawing. Some Antelope areas are unlimited drawings, Moose, Mt sheep and goats by drawing. Coyotes, fox, rabbits, squirrels etc don't require a license. Bobcat requires a trapping permit. A referendum to outlaw leg hold and conabear type traps on public lands was very soundly defeated.
Simple laws and the legislator only gets to meet every 2 years. Thats more than enough.
No traffic and reasonable speed limits.
I can take a leak on highway and its not a crime.
Lots of guns and not much gun control and fewer gun control nuts. Concealed carry permit is shall issue and no background checks if you have one.

I've been a truck driver for 25 years and have several favorite states. Tennessee my home state with Memphis BBQ
That was in response to someone being from OHIO and stating that it was easy to spell.
I AM now from Massachusetts and YES it took a while before I could spell it correctly. Originally from New Jersey which was a lot easier to spell.
The main reason that I like MA is due to the climate and the access to the Cape as well as Maine, my second favorite state. I have a cabin in Maine and just came back from a week long deer hunting trip two weeks before Thanksgiving.
I like the fact that there are no significant earth quakes, wild fires, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, mud slides, droughts, deadly snakes, scorpions, chiggers or alligators.
The politics are difficult but I still have my C&R and my License to Carry large capacity firearms, so it's not all bad.
I saw nothing in Maine this deer season but Monday being first day of MA shotgun season, I did see a large doe just before dusk. Someone had taken two shots behind me but apparently missed and she came through the woods just 100 yards to my right. Unfortunately there was thick cover and since she was headed for one of my hunting companions, I decided not to try.
I have been here for 46 years and love the fact that I can hunt 10 miles from my house but that Home Depot is only 2 miles away.

The thing I like the best of my home state Illinois....looking in my rear view mirror crossing the Mississippi river into the great state of Missouri.

Pretty much true. I live in central Conn. A mid sized town that's basically blue collar and most folks voted for Trump in the election. We keep the nut case liberals in check here but those wackos in Hartford outnumber us. The town has doubled in population since I was a kid so most of the surrounding woods are gone. The wife and I are contemplating moving south now that I've retired. Georgia or the Carolina's.

I like MA, lived in Springfield and Boston, and while it's not a twister magnet, it gets some whoppers occasionally.
I watched the 1979 Windsor Locks tornado come right past my home in Springfield. It was an F4 killer and one of the costliest in US history.
The 2011 New England tornado outbreak spawned a very damaging EF3 killer in Springfield.

The things I like about North Dakota are the changing seasons; you walk around outside in a t-shirt when it warms up to 45 degrees in the spring, but when it cools down to 45 degrees in the fall, you throw a jacket on. Summers are warm, but the evenings are very nice and it doesn't get dark until after 10:00 PM. I also enjoy the smell of freshly tilled dirt in the spring and of harvest in the fall. However, I could do without the winters.
Also, there is the opportunity to hunt many different animals. Whitetail and Mule Deer, Elk, Moose, Antelope, Fox, Coyote, Goose, Duck, Pheasant, Grouse, Partridge....., although the moose and elk are a once in a lifetime tag and aren't easy to get. Also the Mule Deer and Antelope tags are about a once in four year tag with our lottery system. Also, the badlands in the Southwestern part of the state has lots of federally owned National Grasslands that are open to public hunting and hiking. Just lots of opportunities to do lots of different things.
I also like the fact I can walk out my door to sight my firearms in. No public firearm ranges necessary.

I'm originally from Southern New Jersey. The Jersey shore south of Wildwood to the tip of Cape May.
And the Pine Barrens or Wharton State Forest would be second. That is about the only thing I miss about New Jersey.

Here in PA the Game Commission has bought up (and manages) a BUNCH of different parcels of land. These are available for hunting, and other recreational uses. Can't get locked out of there!

What do I like best about Oregon?
For scenic beauty, it's almost as good as it gets. I say almost, because I've also lived in Alaska, Hawaii, and Idaho. I like our wildlife, our coastline (all of which is open to the public), our dry side (where the politics more closely match my own), our mountains, and our rivers.
Our gun laws are better than some, and worse than others.
What don't I like about it?
Portlandia! I avoid it like the plague. Unfortunately, I am forced to go there occasionally.

I spent a career era on the North Coast. Instead of measuring snow with taped together yard sticks, you can count the snow flakes when they land down here--If you're quick. The average snowfall (yes, it's possible) is 1/2" every 10 years. They close all the main highways up in the big city when they get that much snow. A bitter hard winter here means it got below freezing twice during the season. 
But hey; if you like that sort of thing, you can drive a couple hours north and see all you want. If you can make it through the traffic jam of sightseers looking at the snow that fell in the "hill country".

I live in the dreaded downstate part of New York...New York City...as far as I'm concerned, the best part of living here will be leaving it. I cast my eyes (and my job search) towards Vermont!

Raised in Winston-Salem and NJ. About the latter, nil nisi bonum (that's Latin for "watch your mouth about dead folks"). Twenty five years in the Navy, mostly in VA & FL, but some time in CA & DC. Never lived in TN, but every time I passed through there, somebody showed me what a great state it is.
I don't know what my home state is, but even MA has a nice area called Cape Cod, which I was recently told has the highest per capita incidence of carry permits in the state.

Well growing up near family yellow perch fishing on Lake Erie. But my true love is Michigan traveling that state I always feel at home. Western shore line near Whitehall and up the coast line from there.
The thing I like the most about Missouri right now is.................

I grew up in western WA, left after high school and didn't come back for 15 years. Lived in all parts of the country and the world (thanks to Uncle Sam and others). I like it here the best (climate, lack of poisonous critters, no tornadoes or hurricanes, (yes there are earthquakes and volcanoes) what I don't like is the political bent, but there are a lot of the state that is to my preference in that respect, I can always drive away from the city.)
SE Ohio, hill country...a lot of original families here after 113 yrs.
Most all were migrants from Old Virginia. It's a good place to live.

To all those who have said they want to move South, come on down. NC has I77, I85, and I95 that will take you straight to SC, GA, FL........without stopping.
