What do your grandkids call you?

Only 3 grandkids, 5,10 and 13…… the wife is gay and I am pawpaw. I wanted something more dignified, like grandfather, oh well.

Pop 'n Gree

My grandfather I called "Pop" because that is what my Dad called him. Dad was a Junior so neither one of them got called by their name, Ben. Dad was "June". I was in HS before it ever occurred to me that "Pop" was not his name. Now because my daughter knows the story she has her kids calling me that.

My wife has been dubbed "Gree", which was coined by my granddaughter from grandmommy. Wife is delighted with the unusual name and compares herself to the villainous "Gru" in the film "Despicable Me".

My two granddaughters call me Pepop and the lovely wife they call Grandmaw. I dont really care what they call me as long as the call me!!

I picked mine after my wife settled on Lovey. She refuses to be called "Gran-anything". I went with Grandude. Then Paul McCartney stole it from me. When they are little they just call you "Doooood".

My sisters and I called our paternal grandfather Danny because that was my oldest sister’s pronunciation of grandpa. His wife’s name was Gramma Taylor. My mom’s parents were Gramma and Grandpap Snowden. I’m Pappy Taylor to my two grandkids. Sometimes Keegan will call me Dude when we’re shooting together. Like, “Dude! Was that YOU?”
“No! We’re right beside the cows! They fart, too!”

There was Jimmy Stewart movie - Mr Hobbs takes a vacation. One scene has his grown daughter show up with her family, and her kid is crying doesn't want to get out of car. And she tells him, "Don't be scared darling. That's Boompa. You love Boompa." And Jimmy says, "Boompa?", and she says, "That's what he calls you".

And I decided right then and there when I saw that movie but that would never happen with me. And when my daughter told me she was pregnant, I told her that was wonderful. And I was Grandpa.

Them kids never had a choice. If they called me something besides Grandpa I didn't answer.

No kids, so no grandkids either. My dad's mom was Grandma. My dad's dad died 12 years before I was born. My mom's parents were Nonny and Grampy.
If I had a choice of what to be called, it would be the Norwegian word for grandfather, bestefar. Sounds like a character from Lord of the Rings.

Hey- CONGRATULATIONS!

I’m a retired cop and a firearms instructor. I (we) were thinking Glockpa, but finally decided on Gunpa!
But the little one, who’s already 16 months old, calls me Pa. Gotta love her.
