What EDC folding knife do you carry?

I really like the K-bar knives, but I wasn't a Marine and haven't earned the right to carry one.

The clip on my SOG allows me to clip it into my jeans pocket. That way it is easier to get to. I'm an industrial mechanic and I use this knife for a work knife as well as an EDC.

Kershaw Black Out. I really like many of the Kershaw knives and their warranty is great. I broke the blade on mine a while back doing something foolish and clearly abusive. I sent it to them with an honest confession and asked if they could possibly replace the blade and bill me for it. Kershaw just replaced the knife, no questions asked. That's great service.

Choices

I really enjoy the great pics. I have a lot of knives and rotate them some according to needs and dress. I carry a Spyderco Military when I am in jeans and need a bigger knife while working outside. I have a Kershaw composit Leek that goes with me frequently. I slip a small Macusta in layered steel in the pocket when wearing dress clothes or maybe a Case mini Copper Lock in cranberry bone. I also have a Emerson CQC-10 in the rotation. I frequently carry SAK Tradesman along with another locking blade of some type. There are a couple of Benchmades that I like also. My wife says I don't ever need another knife...I don't agree. She doesn't need anymore shoes but she doesn't agree with that...So, its a stalemate. That reminds me. Its about time for something new!

I have had my trusty Leatherman PST II (in it's original leather case) on my belt for about every minute of the last 17 or so years since I bought it. It's repaired everything from cars, to kids toys to battle damage on an F-16 (shh, don't tell, personal tools aren't allowed...) I rarely use the blade on it, but the pliers and various screwdrivers are used constantly. I also use the ruler marks inscribed on the side to make quick, rough, measurements of things.

I carry a Gerber folding knife in my left pocket to use on all my ordinary, daily things that require a sharp blade (opening boxes, envelopes, etc.) Nothing special, but it's a nice Gerber knife, keeps a good blade.

Lastly, in case I need something a little more, tactical, I carry a Spyderco Endura4 with a self made wood beaded lanyard hanging a little from my pocket to allow instant grasping. It takes and holds about the sharpest blade I've ever seen other than my Dad's old knife he passed down to me. I don't know much about it other than he got it back when he was a teen and entered the Air Force (60's) and it's stamped "Original Bowie Knife" on the blade and "Solingen" "Germany" on the base of the blade. It's a solid, thick blade and a bone/antler? type handle. I was able to sharpen it better than anything I've ever worked on; it floats through a sheet of paper without resistance. BTW, the leather sheaf it came with is in bad shape; anyone know where I might get a new one?

I've had a tiny Buck 305 in my pocket almost constantly for over 30 years. (Carried it every day to school, those were the good old days). I broke the tip off the main blade shortly after I got it. I've been told Buck will fix it for free. No way do I want it fixed, as it is it makes a really handy screwdriver. I have used it hundreds of times over the years in that regard, including fixing my car when it broke down at the most inconvenient places. It's a keeper.
The other "always" knife I carry is a Spyderco Delica. It is the half-serrated model with the old plastic clip. I much prefer that clip to the newer metal clip as it gives the fingers a better purchase on the knife during the opening process. I use it every day, whether just opening mail or some other utilitarian task.
I also have a Ken Onion Speed-Safe assisted opener that I carry when I want to be "Tactical", and the Applegate/Fairbairn Combat Folder and The Covert.
I never go anywhere withou8t at least one good knife.

What is the purpose of the 'clip' on the side of some of these knives?

I don't care for the appearance, and it looks like it would interfere with a good hand grip.

The clip allows you to hang the knife on the lip of your trouser pocket in a consistent orientation instead of having to search for it in the bottom of same.

As I tend to giveaway or misplace good pens and knives, I now carry a CRKT voyager, it's a good size W/O being considered a weapon. Bought two on closeout for $19.95 each at R.E.I. and I still have both of them.

For special occasions, the Lovely and Charming gave me her grandfather's 90 year old Schrade "safety button" knife. Granddad bought that knife when he graduated from the university of California Berkeley and returned to the "Gold Country" to rejoin the family lumber business.

The Puma has a 6.1 inch blade,but the guard will get in the way-lemme get a bit cheaper one up to fit it....the double guard sheathes tend to be pretty low cost.

Not counting my boy scout knife from days gone by, my first daily carry knife was a Spyderco Delica that I bought in the early 1990s. When the plastic clip on it broke, I got a Gerber EZ-Out and I've been carrying that one every since. Lost it for a bit last year when I left it on a utility trailer while getting a propane tank refueled. Retraced my steps and found it in the gutter beside the road. It had been runned over. Straightened the flatten clip and cleaned it up a bit. Still going strong. I feel naked without it!

Obviously, it's been well used. Dad had that knife and an old, octagonal barreled, pump .22 (Henry rifle). When I came back after he was diagnosed with liver cancer, the knife was still there, but the rifle was missing. He was conned into selling it for $50 to one of my cousin's on his side. I took the knife. After the funeral, one of his brothers (the one who had that cousin) called to ask if I happened to see a knife, with a leather sheaf with a buck on it... I told him nope, didn't see it. I wasn't about to even let him start some kind of story to get his hands on it. Thanks for the link to the sheaf, I want to keep it and pass it on to one of my sons some day. If you ever find out anything about it, I'd appreciate it, thanks!!!

I'm planning to make knives so I have this overwhelming interest in them,one thing is for sure if it goes back into the 70's or 60's it is possibly tied to one of the bigger makers (maybe) which would be like Eckhorn or Boker-maybe,we'll see.

I have been carrying an SAK Soldier for years. I used to carry the single blade tacticool one hand openers, but they are just a big blade. I need more tools.

I bought two of these on clearance at target. One is still in the package.

Here is my other gem, picture taken from Cold Steel webpage. It's a Talwar, now dis-continued. It originally went for $530 retail. I paid $143, legit. blade is japanese laminate and handle is titanium.

Ok, I noticed a few people mentioned Kershaw, and the Leek. So, I was walking through the BX and saw the knife section. All the knives are displayed in clear plastic packages so you can see them, but I saw a stack of boxes on the bottom shelf just sitting there. The side said "Kershaw", which triggered my memory of this thread. I took a look and found the Kershaw Leek Composite. Ok, so it was $69.99, but it looked really cool and some of you had specifically mentioned it as great so... I now have the Leek Composite for my daily knife (and the larger Spyderco endura 4 for large tasks). Here is the Leek Composite:
