As has been noted your caliber selection is distinctly limited, flat out the 45 ACP should really be on that list.

About 95% of the time my daily carry is a 40 caliber Sig Sauer P239 with a +1 magazine kit. Function with over 3000 rounds downrange has been totally flawless and it points so naturally for me that I don't need to used the sights at any range of 10 yards or less. When you hit the age where you can't focus on handgun sights anymore a good natural pointing pistol becomes quite important.

Another very natural pointer is the 1911 government model, which is what I carry the when I'm in the mood for something a bit slimmer inside the waistband and larger in caliber.

My EDC's through history are not in this poll
44 magnum .. when the potential must include both man and beast.
45 ACP ... for when man turns beast
12 GA .. yes I packed this concealed .. for when you know your walking where angels fear to tread and your judgment has been overruled by those without the sense God gave the common dog.
while the 12 Ga is negotiable for its inclusion, 44 mag, 45 auto, 357 mag and 41 mag are not if you really want an honest statistical outcome.

people, .22, .32, .45, .38, .357, .44, etc are not in the poll.

That is why I didn't include those in my answer, and why you shouldn't either.

What good is a poll if you completely ignore it and just throw in anything and everything else?

Why don't we include bear spray, knives, swords,

Start another poll that includes only those you want listed.

:-)

Sorry, Just saw the above......

The only one I have on my list that is in the list is my .40 S&W. It is the Glock 23. decent round capacity. Hides and rides very well and is comfortable, dependable and acccurate. I have complete confidence in this caliber and in this gun in particular and my ability to use it effectively.

I only own one that qualifies, a Ruger SR40.. .40 SW. Its heavy when loaded and big. It is my bedside gun. My carry is a .38 SPL Taurus M85UL. Its light, was inexpensive to buy, accurate, well made and reliable. I carry it in a Simply Rugged Silver Dollar Pancake. I don't care if I scratch the gun, the cops take it away from me, I drop it or loose it. Its easily replaceable. Yet it's dependable.

He asked, "What is your EDC and why?" Then, he gave choices that probably eliminate at least 50% of the membership. I have probably owned well over 150 handguns in my life. I have never owned three of the choices, and haven't owned a 9mm in more than 25 years. Why would he do that? I don't understand. He should have asked, if he didn't want answers from the rest of us, "Which of the following calibers . . . . . etc."

I will answer the question as posed in the title of the thread . . . . most of the time, 38 special. Many times, I carry two j-frames. In fact, tomorrow I will carry a Model 60 loaded with BB 158 grain +P hollow points and a Model 37 (3" barrel) loaded with Golden Sabers to my new job at the pawn shop. Why? Ease of concealment. Reliability. Weight. Pros. Same as why, plus, the BB heavy +P puts the .38 special in real, sho-nuff self defense power levels in the 2" barrel. Cons. Limited to ten rounds with the pair. Not really too much of a con to me.

Mostly 9mm G26 with mag ext. It carries like a dream, and no matter how many rubs or scuffs it takes, I don't sweat it. It always looks the same, Glock ugly, but very wear resistant finish.

I carry different firearms depending upon the time of year and what I'm wearing. In the winter, I can conceal a larger pistol better. I may have to shoot through more clothes in the winter. In the summer, I have to worry about carrying a lot of times with cargo shorts and a t-shirt. In the summer, I have to worry about sweating more on the pistol/revolver. A lot of times, I wear a suit. Sometimes I wear a sort of business casual. Sometimes I'm on my bicycle. There are too many factors for me. There is no one magic firearm that fits all those scenarios.

That said, I either carry a S&W Mod. 36, a Glock 27, a Colt Mustang, or a Colt 1911.
So only two fit your parameters; The Mustang and the Glock.

I'm glad you are not in charge of guns. You don't give much choice.:D Larry

Ditto!
What about the full spectrum poll? Include everything.

I prefer .45 ACP S&W 325 NG or my Sig 1911 Ultra, other times I like my 629 .44 Magnum. My model 19, I like .38 Special and .357 Magnum. I have a few 9mm my Kel Tec PF9, Sig P938 and Ruger LC9 are very concelable is a good New York reloads.
