What is your town’s tourist attraction?

In the OP, I mentioned the attraction in Sulphur Springs, eighteen miles away. I would be amiss if I didn't mention the town I call home. Mount Vernon, Texas, eight miles form my place, is a struggling community that is trying its best to revitalize. The big attraction there is the Don Meredith Museum. It's housed in an old stone building off the main square that was once the fire station. There are many items and photos on display form his days playing high school, college and pro ball. There are also items such as his blazer, photos and other memorabilia form his time as a commentator on Monday Night Football.

The next time I'm in town I'll take some pictures and post them for all the Dandy Don fans.

The weather.
It was 75 and awesome today.

Or to find out why the Chicken crossed the road (yes it's a real pic from downtown):

Or to get away from the big city rush:

Haven't seen any chickens on main street, horses yes, but no chickens here in downtown Payson but your photos sure look like the could have been taken here.

I remember when it was nothing but an old trailer and two rather ragged dishes out front.
Now look at it. Biggest taxpayer in town.$35 million a year and growing.

Mirrored bathrooms are a hard act to follow, but we do have the most photographed courthouse in NC. This is in Sylva, NC

And our county (Jackson) has The Shadow of the Bear

I was stationed at Fort Bragg, NC when I was in the Army. A couple of my buddies and I had motorcycles and we spent most of our free time touring the state. NC is especially beautiful in the fall.

Well, Let's see. We have the Pacific Ocean to the West. And the only deep water port between S.F. & The Columbia river. And a large fishing fleet at Charleston but the fishing is being slowed down by legislation. We have lots of trees but they can't be harvested because of law suits by tree huggers. And we have the tourist season in summer. But with gas so high not as many people go to the Oregon Coast. And unemployment is high so unemployment insurance is very popular. But the Indian Casino is very busy.

Food. Pork BBQ especially!

Memphis in May, bbq fest, music fest, italian fest, just awesome.

Graceland, home of Elvis.

Civil Rights museum @ the Loraine Hotel

Gibson Guitar Factory

Tigers & Grizzly basketball.

Sure there are plenty more but those are some of the most popular.

Well, not to be outdone but we do have a Walmart, not a super center tho, and lucky us wwe are home to the NY state sexual offenders long term post prison receptacle(they don't really get choice, they just gotta go)...is receptacle the right word?

In the immediate neighborhood there is the St. Croix River.

In the Twin Cities, I suppose the biggest tourist draw is the Mall of America. I don't go there, although I have driven a bus into the terminal under the parking garage. The Mall of America is the southern terminus of the Metro Transit #5 route, the most thug-infested bus line in the Twin Cities.

My town is located on the Sacandaga Reservoir. A large man made flood control reservoir with a129 miles of shoreline.

We have depending on what time of the year good boating, fishing/ice fishing, hiking trails, hunting, leaf peeping, cross country skiing, snowmobiling(Heck one snowmobile Magazine even called this lake the undiscovered best secret in NY)

Many people even rent summer camps up here so they can go to the world famous Saratoga Raceways. (Only a short ride away)

That's why we retired here, we made our summer camp a year around house!:D
