What I usually did in similar situations was by a decent substitute used gun. Apparently delay means not getting to shoot and enjoy a magnum for who knows how many years. By the time your ideal .357 materializes you may not have the time to spend at the range. You'd have missed the good times available now. Most times an excellent condition used example of what I lusted for eventually showed up. The price difference between new now and excellent condition used after the market settles down may well be more than the used substitute gun costs. Besides, as time goes by you may come to realize that you need a .44 Magnum for defense against the Sasquatch more than you need the ideal .357.
