What Would You Want ?

Noveske EBR with two mags of frangible, Sig P220 with two 10-round mags, weapon lights on both. After that, either the noisemaker's gone, I'm gone, or I'm gonna need a lot of remodeling....

YOUR HANDLE IS APPROPRIATE.

The Big D; I get outta bed and look around the house if I hear something seemingly originating from inside. NEVER with a gun in hand.[/QUOTE said:
I hope you are big, cuz if you come FTF with an intruder EMPTY HANDED that may come in handy.

My "base of operations" at 3am would be in bed asleep with a C-pap mask, 2 wrist braces & a hand towel over my eyes. The 24/7 neck knife, 32 acp in my T shirt pocket, & 9mm P226 in the headboard will have to do. If I get a bad feeling, the beneli sbe with buckshot & Dixie tri-balls, or Mossberg 590 with a pistol grip would be nearby. The neck knife & 32 will be in case the intruder climbs into bed with me. The hard part will be waking up & getting some bearings.

What ever is at hand I guess. Be it snubby, 1911, hammer or one of my defense canes. I seriously doubt they are getting through the window or a door unless they kick it in and fly through it. Dog is PERFECTLY FINE with invited guests and hopes you brought her a treat. Have had people walk in my house uninvited or not thinking and she is at the door in a flash. Actually bit the ex when she came to check on the house while I was in the hospital. (if she would have called her name and let her know she would have known who it was.)Gets kinda cranky if spooked awake in the middle of the night on top of it. She is a feisty lab when it comes to her house and strangers unless I say it is ok. Car/truck? pffff she will show you where the key is (probably ask to ride along especially if you are going to the river) Just don't walk in the house uninvited.

1911 in .45. In my case I'll be responding to check out the problem. Our home is a split bedroom plan with our teenage grandson on the far side of the house. No way I can stay bunkered down in the bedroom while he may be at risk. We live in the country so response time by the S.O. will be 5-30 minutes, assuming the two deputies on patrol aren't busy with something else.

357 magnum 4 inch barel with two comp 1 speed loaders and a 4 cell mag light by the bed . If you don't keep a flash light in working order with your weapon you are asking for tragedy .I also keep a mini14 and two 20 round mags plus a few boxes of ammo for both guns in the closet ,the wife's side of the bed she has a 357 mag and a smaller flashlight and cell phone . Our plan is defend the bedroom and hall coming into bed room call the police and let them clear the house, yard ect . We have our bedroom arranged where we have heavy furniture we can hide behind and shoot down our hallway and any bad guy returning fire would have to hit a small target shooting back at him ,the flashlights pointing down the hallway one laying on tne floor one across heavy oak dresser would give us light to see a threat plus give him or them false targets . Tactical thinking .Its easier to defend one room than trying to " clear" a house but we live alone our kids are grown so for a family this plan might not be optimal but for a couple ,older ,not great health it makes more sense .

Our nightstand gun is a Model 66. The reason for choosing the 66 is mostly because it chose me. I inherited it from my stepfather. It was his uniform duty gun (retired LEO). My wife is more comfortable with a revolver so that's really the main reason we have a revolver next to the bed, I would be fine with any of my 9MM pistols but I need to know she is comfortable with it if she has to use it. So that's what we have. What I would want if it were just me using it, my SD9ve would be in the night stand and my AR15 would be behind the bed.
