What's flying off the shelf at your local Gun shop?

I think the reign of revolvers is back, i have see many .357 and .44 leave the shelf.

I haven't been in a gun shop in a week or more, which is unusual for me since I'm usually in every other day or so, "just because." They recently went to only ten people in at a time, and I'm sure not standing in line just to look around. I don't need anything really.

The last time in though I did notice they were pretty low on most all powders.

I've got a gun in the gunsmith's there too. I haven't heard anything from him. Maybe I'll give him a call today and see if he's found out anything about what needs to be done, or if he can even get parts for it.

There's a large old Hardware store that doubles as the local gunshop with a resident gunsmith to make repairs , they carry firearms , ammo and and just about everything a shooter , hunter , fisherman needs ...along with hardware , chickens turkeys, geese and ducks and Easter rabbits ....
so whats on the big advertising sign out front ..." TOILET PAPER"

and we bought some !!!!!

I guess I got lucky. I picked up 600 dirt cheap rounds of 9mm ammo when Walmart decided to discontinue sales. This put me over 1000 rounds...which I still have. Looking back, I wish I'd bought more, but I'm in good shape for now.

There are two near me that closed. One two weeks ago, the other a week ago. Both said they only had .22 pistols and hunting rifles, and were out of ammo.

I got in on that too last month or so. Picked-up 1200 rounds of .45 & some .40 at half off. I order 1000 rounds of 9mm for $180 shipped three weeks ago figuring this might happen.

I've also started reloading .45 acp & .38 spl. Mostly just for fun, but I've had about 30 lbs. of Unique since the last panic. And I picked-up primers & bullets last month from the Sportsman"s Warehouse.

If you check all the on-line distrubtors, they all seem to have plenty of semi-auto hanguns available at the same low prices. Just shipping has been pushed out 7-10 days. And some shipments might end-up going to a closed store.

In AZ, Gun Shops are essential per the Governor. ;)

I just got back from Shooter's World here in Phoenix. They received a delivery of over $100,000 in guns and had ammo. Everything was way over priced.

I asked about 9 mm ammo and the cheapest they had was $35 for a box of 50. I ordered some last night for $13 a box. I'm now stocked up.

I suppose that'll quiet down the "Can I save money by reloading?" threads that appear every so often! :)

Yes but anybody who is just now going to start reloading 9mm will quickly find that both powder and bullets are unobtainable at the present time.

It's not unobtainable, but one might have to wait longer and/or be more flexible with regards to powder and bullet choices. I think that most active reloaders always have a good stock of supplies on hand. There is also the possibility that I have more supplies for a certain caliber that I don't shoot nearly as much as I used to, so I might have some available for trade to other reloaders. I agree that now isn't the best time to start reloading. Those who used to spout that they don't reload 9mm because it is so cheap, might be scrambling for supplies, too.

Yeah, I guess unobtainable isn't exactly right, but as you said longer waits and flexibility in powder choices are definitely needed. I'd also add some prices are up considerably.

The only place I could find with the 9mm FMJ bullets I usually buy had them at a much higher price than a couple weeks ago. I don't desperately need them yet but went ahead and ordered a thousand since I don't know how long the shortage will last. I haven't seen anybody with the bullets I normally buy for the AR but I'm still in pretty good shape on them.

I usually load my 9mm's with CFE pistol but as far as I can see that's out of stock everywhere. I did find some Titegroup at Powder Valley so I ordered that. They say shipment will be delayed a week or more, but again I'm not out yet, just trying to prepare in case things get even worse. At least the price wasn't inflated on the powder.

Mrs suggested I might need to reload some ammo to be prepared for any eventuality. I walked her downstairs and opened the ammo cabinet.....she decided we are okay for now. I have not been to any LGS in a few weeks. All of the store s in PA are only allowed open by appointment.

Effective at 5:00 PM Monday, March 30, 2020, in North Carolina the answer is NOTHING.

While golf courses, liquor stores and the news media are considered essential, gun stores are not.

Here in Montana, I got a 200 count box of Fiocchi Target Max 9mm 115gr at Scheels sporting goods for $42.99. They are out of most other brands.

Check out Gun Genie/Davidson's Guns - it is down/nothing in stock. I have never seen that since it went online. That should tell you a lot about what is going on. When you can buy on Gun Genie, that will be a good indicator that things are getting back to "normal".
