What's for dinner?

Retired bachelor cooking is not usually cooking at all... But every month or so I try a variation on spaghetti sauce. This time, Prego Roasted Garlic and Parmesan, with 1/2 pound of ground sirloin and a full jar of sliced mushrooms. Topped with Parmesan/Romano grated cheese. One jar plus additions is four refrigerator containers for four meals. A splurge this time as I usually only go with ground chuck and sans mushrooms.

Boston Butt was on sale, so I did a dry rub, seared all sides and slow roasted it yesterday. The potatoes went in with an hour and half to go.

I served it with my mom's version of sauerkraut. Sautéed onions, a well rinsed bag is kraut, grated potato and apple, some brown sugar, molasses and water. I cooked it down for several hours.

I made some pork and kraut pirogies for lunch today. I have two leftover that still need to browned in butter. We'll have those tonight with some sausage and a salad. Nothing like hearty food on a cold day!
