Where or How Did You Propose Marriage

I'd tell ya, but I don't feel like taking a week off from the forum!

Driving home from Florida-right before Mobile Bay-I asked her "So you want to get married or what?" She said "OK" Our first meal as betrothed was shortly thereafter at the Daphne McDonalds. She paid.

I purchaed a Build-a-Bear and when you squeeze the hand they talk and I recorded "Will you marry me?" etc and the bear was holding a little box w/ a ring.

I thought it was pretty slick...

Kinda like the difference between naked and nekkid-naked is when you have no clothes on and nekkid is naked one better

We had been dating monogamously for 7 years and were sitting on the couch watching TV. She turned to me and said "So, are you going to marry me or what?" I replied "I suppose I should." It was all very romantic...

We're still an item 27 years later. I like to complain as much as any man, but she's the best thing that ever happened to me.

I took the el romantico approach-

Picnic, on the beach, at sunset, down on one knee.

Shipped out to Turkey on January 21st...
Capt, Steve, out of curiousity, what branch of military were you in, and where were you stationed in Turkey?

I'm guessing from the Ft. Devens reference that you were in the Army, quite possibly ASA. Me too, as it happened.

I was at Diogenes Station, TUSLOG, Sinop, Turkey, from January to December 1968. A medium-boring year, except for the regular, threatening MiG overflights outta the old Sov Union...

Sorry to others for possible thread drift, but in the grand scheme of things during the Vietnam era, there weren't all that many of us sent to the Mideast. So I just sorta hafta gotta know...

Thanks,

I was ASA and served in Asmara Ethiopia, part of the Middle East coverage area. Forum member Pilgrim was also ASA. I'm pretty sure Steve posted about same along with a couple of other members.

Caj, as Lewis Grizzard once pointed out:
Naked means you ain't got no clothes on.
Nekkid means not only have you not got any clothes on, but you're up to sumthin!

1997, Valentines Day in Munich, Germany, on the front lawn of Nymphenburg Palace, the summer home of the ruling family of Bavaria. Hit the link and check out the panoramic photo. It really defies description, as the place surrounds you and you cant get that from a photo, but it's still beautiful.

I was guy in his mid 30s who'd gone back to college at the time, and I wasn't going to be ready for a wedding until 1999, but I'd gotten a good deal on round-trip airline tickets and knew it was the right time propose.

For those wanting an advantage when they pop the question, proposing marriage on the front lawn of a European palace is stacking the deck HEAVILY in your favor. Be on one knee. Have diamond in hand.

I waited until I was 35 to get married. I had plenty of opportunities, but I was never ready until then. I knew I'd only ever do it once when I finally got around to it, and I wanted it to be something special.

We celebrate our 10th anniversary this Friday.
