If society were to decide to ban and confiscate all assault weapons, which firearms become vmore valuable? Is it caliber based(.223, 5.56)? Is it a particular platform. I have a Winchester bolt action .223. I would thing that it would be more desirable based on caliber. I would also think that pistol caliber carbines, or handguns that fire a rifle caliber (.30 carbine) would be more desirable. Perhaps handguns and rifles that had a higher capacity would be desirable. How do you think a hypothetical ban would impact gun prices and supply? If you knew a ban was imminent or probable, what guns would you seek to obtain?

Bailing out already??

You forget, it is not "assault" weapons it is ALL semi autos and ALL high capacity mags.

So all single shot firearms will be in hot demand.

While no one knows the exact count, there are an estimated 15-20 million AR and AK type rifles in the U.S. There are a known 638,000 full auto weapons in the U.S. Any attempt, IMO, at confiscation will result in "unintended consequences" not even imagined by the lunatic left. And that is all I am going to say.

I agree, far easier to choke off the ammo supply.

The oil embargo and gas shortage back in the 70's made a big impression on me and that "Buy it cheap and stack it deep", wasn't just something to say.

Remember that huge glut of cheap 7.62, both x51 and x39, right after the last turn of the century?

When asked a similar question by Skeeter Skelton in an article in the 80's as to a military invasion of the US his reply was "What ever caliber the military was using will become the most wanted by civilians".

At the start, I'd see mandatory gun registration, bans on "assault weapons", bans on any semi-automatic rifles/handguns, and insane taxes on all ammo, including components. Making ammo impossible to find or afford will take a lot of the guns out of play. (except for the criminals). It can happen very quickly, so preparing is absolutely necessary - don't wait to wish. And those buried guns are doing no good for nobody.
