Which is your FAVORITE S&W revolver?

Just pondering this question is making my head hurt. I've got favorites in every size between J frame and N frame. My first duty gun was a 4" 28-2. I don't have that particular revolver anymore, but just bought an excellent example last week. I carry a J frame most of the time, now that I'm retired, and I'm very partial to them. My old duty carry 66-2 4" and 3" 66-2 are hard to resist, as are the N frames in .45 ACP, .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum. And then, there's my 586-3 that I never carried for duty use, but find it shoots the lights out. Since all other reason fails me, I'll have to say my first; the 28-2 will have to be the one above the others, if only for sentimental reasons. They all have their finer points, and this question would be easier if we could pick a model in each frame size.....well, maybe.

Being the owner of both a 66-1 2.5" and a 10-5 2", and a few other snubs of approximately K frame size, I simply cannot argue against all of the members here who picked a K frame snub of one sort or another.
They're a great size for most people and they're aesthetically very pleasing.

If only I could get my hands on a 15 snub.......

How are most of you guys posting full sized pics within the body of your posts? I have only been able to attach pics but they all appear small until I mouse over them.

My favorite S&W revolvers

I have 2 favorites, the Model 19 357, which I know longer have because I was dumb enough to bring it to a gun smith when the frame cracked and didn't realize I should have sent it back to S&W who would have replaced it, so the gun smith at Gander Mountain gave me $100 for parts and probably has a new model 19 of his own now. My 2nd favorite is my 325PD, which isn't being produced any more. This 45 acp is the smoothest most accurate handgun I have ever owned, and I do love the 45 caliber.

Might get a laugh or 2 but it was my 10-5 4". I sold it along with a post war m&p to a member here a couple years ago and have been wanting it back since. I've thought about sending a pm a couple times!

Anyway, it wasn't in perfect shape or anything but it had an excellent trigger and it shot like a laser for me. I shot my absolute best groups with that gun...ever.

This gun has some stiff competition from some past/present ones that I've owned including 2 model 28's, a 27, 66, j frames a plenty, 686, etc. So to say that this particular one was my favorite speaks volumes!

I put nearly 2 thousand rounds through my 625-4inch this summer. It goes to the range everytime.

I tried doing this from both my Nikon photo site and my Canon photo site, but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm sending a message to S&W Forum support. Thanks for the help.
Ahh - Fixed it!
Which grip do you guys like better? Target or Combat?

The only way I could come up with a single S&W was to use the 'trick' that was suggested; you have NO Smith revolvers what would be the FIRST one you would want/buy...

Model K-22 - shipped Nov. 3, 1947 - ten days before I was born!

My pick would be pops, now my 27-1 3 1/2". All time classic. Great feel, Great look, My second would be a model 19 4", I have put a lot of rounds down range with the 1 my Mom bought for me in 1972 used for 100.oo. I cut my teeth on a S&W and still a S&W guy

I am sympathetic with both Xfuzz and Iggy. Like Iggy, I have a "sentimental" favorite (though not for the same reasons) - a blued, 6-1/2", late-60s Model 29-2. It will always be the proverbial "last to go."

But that Model 29 is a big, HEAVY gun. My hard-to-choose pair is similar to Xfuzz's. The 29 will always be there, but I'd have to say my favorite "all-around revolver" is the 4-inch Model 19 Combat Magnum. I couldn't choose between those two.

I have three.

1. 686, 6 inch.
2. 629, 6.5 inch.
3. Hand Ejector .44 spl.

I'd have to say the 629. Since I reload, it's the most versatile.

Of all the S&W revolvers that you own...or want to own...which one is your very best favorite?

And since I posed question, I'll be the first. I admit I am torn between my Model 15-4 (which is actually my wife's), Model 25-5, or Model 17-4. But when I'm required to choose one and only one, it has to come down to my...

S&W Model 19-3 "Combat Magnum" in 357 Magnum.

I shoot this revolver better than any handgun I have ever shot. It is a joy to shoot and so satisfying to see those tight groups in both single-action and especially in double-action.

Thanks for looking at my favorite S&W revolver.

God bless,
Birdgun

Sorry, for ME, that is too difficult to answer! If I don't like them, they go "BYE-BYE" Bob

Nope! Still cant decide which is my favorite.
I did sell my first smith and Wesson revolver recently. It was a 4" model 66. Because I told myself, I was never gonna shoot it again.
And I lived happily ever after......
